he is showing affection in his own way (he doesnt like cuddles) or is it just because he is nasty (the tip of his tail is always wagging)?

if your cat is under 2 years old, it's probably just being playful. The wagging of the tail means most likely that your cat is in "play" mode. All cats bite, some harder than others. There are ways to teach your cat not to bite so hard. They sometimes just don't know their limits.

Most usually when a cats tail is slowly wagging back and forth, and tends to get a hook-like tip to it within this motion, its getting mad. The biting then is from anger. Usually quick and hard...

Now if the cat is lighting nibbling, thats playing. Sounds like your making the cat mad.

No need to put it under, your just making it mad some how. Instead of cuddling and squeezing it, try picking it up and petting it for a while, calm the cat down, wait till it starts to purr, then try to cuddle it. If it then starts doing the same thing, then you know it doesnt like what your doing.

Cats play bite and nasty bite. Generally, watch the body language. If he bite's lightly, wagging his tail a bit and letting go alot, chasing your hand, he is playing with you. If he has flat ears, is really sinking in the teeth and really wagging his tail, I suggest you leave him alone. Some cats just don't like cuddles!

Get a book on cat care. Otherwise, how can you sort the good from the bad here? One woman says a cat bite can cause "amputation", someone else says to put the cat down! A third person says he's just playing.

Forget this forum unless you want to be confused and/or waste a lot of time trying to separate jokes from serious answers, knowledgeable from ignorant.

when the tip of a cats tail is wiggling, your cat is annoyed...don't pet the cat when he doesn't want to be pet and don't put him in stressful environment i.e lound noises. Leave the poor thing alone! Don't treat your cat as if he were a dog, cats do not wag their tail because they are excited, when your cat wants affection from you he will seek it, until then...

My cat is always biting its just playing never bites hard just nibbling.
If you look at wild cats behaivier the kittens/cubs always biting there mothers playing its a natural thing for them.
When cats are annoyed its just one quick single nip, and then its time to stop playing ( In the wild when the mother has enough she nips them to say enough )
Cats dont like cuddling too much, they just put up with it.

It's because he's a cat and cats are the most nasty vicious, unpleasant, disease-spreading, backside-licking-then-face-kissing sadistic scum-balls on the planet. Get a real pet, like a wolverine or a leech, something with a bit of soul, something with a soft and gentle side.

I say playful. Which means - another way to show affection. Mine, although he does enjoy a good cuddle, will also occasionally attack my hands when they approach him (or are doing something different). He never bites, or scratches, very hard though.

can be both, if your stroking him and he seems to be liking the affection then it's probably harmless. if he seems to bite you then run away or attack you in another way then he's telling you to go away. tail wagging isn't usually an encouraging sign unless they curl it around you. once he does it try retracting and see if he comes over to you or pays you any more attention.

It is probably because he is annoyed. A wagging tail usually indicates something is going on.
