You need to update your sound card drivers. Normally you can get the updated drivers from either your computer's manufacturers website (Dell, HP, ect.) or the sound card manufacturers website. If for instance you have a Dell Desktop, go to support.dell.com, select drivers and downloads, enter your service tag or select your model and take it from there.

LOL no worries, this is a REALLY common issue when upgrading to 2000. Firstly let me make you aware of why. Windows 2000 was the first release of NT. It was created more for networks. IT has compatibility issues with 3/4 of all hardware that is out, so now i say, XP is based upon NT with compatibility issues fixed!
Please post what your sound card is by make/model/serial and I will help to find the appropriate drivers.

It happens all the time with Windows upgrades. The only thing you can do is find out the model and make of the sound card and go to the vendor website and download a new one.

You'll probably need to add them via the control panel>add hardware option (I hope you kept the CD's/disks - if not the drivers can usually be downloaded from the manufacturer's website).
