Use beeswax...it works great (somepeople mix different beeswax brands to get a really good effect!)
You also don't want to relax/perm your hair before hand as your hair may fall out.
Also try some different "Dred lock" products...even though you're not going for dreds, the right dred moisturizers are really good for your hair when doing kinky twists. Good luck.

yeah. use hair wax. it's good for keeping the twists in place. it will also make it easier to twist. it's a style that i wear sometimes because my hair is natural as well. try ORGANIC ROOT STIMULATOR-LOCK & TWIST GEL. it's very good. it's not pasty like some waxes can be and it locks the twists very well. good luck and have fun with your hair!!

NO WAY NATURAL IS THE BEST HAIR TO DO IT ON, DONT RELAX UR HAIR BEFORE PUTTING IT IN.

yea but you dont have to really braid it just twist because its yours so it will stay and hold better.
