Sadism (deriving sexual pleasure from dealing out physical pain on someone else) and masochism (deriving sexual pleasure from receiving such pain)=S and M. The term sadism comes from the Marquis de Sade, a French noble who enjoyed torturing and killing his servants a little too much.
