Depends on if you go in as an E-1, E-2, or E-3... I doubt seriously, that without a college degree, you would go in any higher than E-3.

But here is your complete military pay scale...

If you join the military right after high school you will get pay around $1700 but if your married you'll get a whole lot more don't get me wrong now I'm not saying go out and get married. But if I was you I would probably get at least an AA before joing the military that way you can go ROTC to become an officer and make a hell of alot more than most soldiers thats already in and you wont have to put up with a whole lot of bullshit. If your going to join also make sure its something that you really want to do because I see alot of people join and then within less than 2yrs their right back out in the civilian world, so they really just wasted 2yrs of their life basically for nothing sometimes especially if they only joined for the money. SO THINK REAL HARD BEFORE YOU DO IT.

My sister joined right after highschool, I'm not exactly sure of what she got during bootcamp, but I know it was a good amount! Plus, while you're in training, you aren't spending any of that money, or your own money really, so you're banking all of it. I know she ended her summer a couple thousand richer than when she left 3 months earlier. My sister also just got back from a 2 1/2 month leave overseas, and i know she said by the end of the summer she'll have made over $7,500 (i think it's closer to $9,000 but I don't want to over-quote). That's just in 3 months. She also gets paid for going up to drill for one weekend a month. She gets approximately $400-$500 for going to drill friday and coming home monday. Not bad huh? Plus she gets schooling paid for on top of her monthly paycheck. From what she was told too by her commanding officer, all that money she made while overseas doesn't have to be claimed on her taxes since she was out of the country. But that could be completely wrong too, she's checking with her tax advisor to make sure.
Don't let those comments from people who say that it isn't about the money and that's not why people join, because in reality, a lot of people join because of the money and additional benefits that come from the military. People also join because they don't know what else to do with their life, so they figure, why not? There is no right or wrong reason for joining the military. What matters in the end, is that you joined and our country is a better place because of you (the soldier.)

Go to college first or a military academy such as West Point or in Annapolis. If you become an officer you'll get paid more than the enlisted personnel. But I mostly agree with the first person that said you don't do it for the money. Even though each person must get paid in society, if you are thinking about the money then wheres the dedication and honor for your country. Don't just join the military for the money but do it for your country.

I got out of the Army in 1995, and I was making about $1600.00 a month as an E-4 Specialist. The pay goes up every year.
When you are in basic training and A.I.T. you won't get paid much. You won't have any bills though, unless you have a c.c. or some loans. You will live in the barracks, have free electric, water etc. Your medical is fully covered, and your meals too. If you work in a job where going to the dining facility is out of the question, you will recieve something called "Seperate rations" this is money added into your paycheck every month...it can be up to about $200 extra a month...you use that to eat out or buy groceries. I say go for it!!

its your selection, in case you connect and under no circumstances using a level you connect as an Enlisted in case you connect and performance a level you connect as an officer. yet a reliable ingredient about the military is it pays for school. So for my section you should connect (in case you really favor to) spend a pair years seeing in case you want it, and then use it for school. there are classes for in case you get out and favor to get to school the position they pay for it, and some the position you stay in and they pay for it and the you change into an officer. in case your really in touch you should bypass confer with a recruiter they could help inclusive of your situation fantastically. yet keep in recommendations (reason some recruter say different sensible) you'll likely get deployed a minimum of once in a 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days settlement for an overseas places deployment, and something else of the time you'd be coaching to get deployed back. Its now to not undesirable yet i recognize to a lot of human beings wondering that the warfare is ending and they are going to under no circumstances ought to bypass to the Afghanistan or something.

At e-1. Taking it you have no kids or married. You will bring in just around 1,000$ a month. No one goes in the military for the money. Unless they plan to be in for a very long time.

The military does not pay much at all when you first join and for awhile afterwards.
But................when you figure in all the wonderful benefits that you get. and the fact that they will pay for your schooling.

You come out a winner in the end.
