i would like to buy a recharge can at auto zone or something if this is at all possible

buy a recharge kit r134-A found at walmart autozone or any parts store.
Turn your car on..run your a/c on full blast...have all doors open..
recharge on the Low port of the AC system which is found near your radiator. its either a blue cap or a cap with an L.

Those part store self charging kits are not accurate. You need real tools and a good understanding of your HVAC system. People think that all you do is fill the system with as much R134 and you will freeze. Sure, you freeze your air system alright.

If you have never done it before just take in to a shop. Just dont take in to the STEALERSHIP
