what does it mean when someone says they'll never stop loving you?

My exboyfriend finally resonded to an email. He said "I will never stop loving you". We are not together now and haven't talked for almost a month, so what does this saying mean?

He's just being polite .... or he just means exactly what he said .... he cares for you and will always care for you .. even if you're not together.... !
