He got bit on his penis by either an ant or a mosquito, not sure which but now his penis is swollen and red and he wont stop scratching it due to it itching as well. What could cause a reaction that bad and is there anything I can put on it until I can get him either into his doctor or the emergency room?

Put a little corisone cream on it, and follow that w/ a dose of benadryl. Poor little guy! Give him a big hug, too.
He may have an allergy to the venom from the bite. The benadryl should help that a lot, and the sedative effect will reduce his scratching. The cortisone cream will also give a more immediate type of relief. Just be sure not to allow it into the urethra.

You should take him into an emergency room, go very early morning to avoid the long wait time. If you decide not to take him to the ER, then you should give him an antihistamine a pediatric dose and childrens motrin for the pain. Observe him closely since you dont know what this thing is. If you have insurance I would not waste any time, take him to an MD.

You need to take him the to doctor before you put anything on that area. The skin is too think there to not check with your doctor first. You can give him any type of oral anti-histamine just follow directions for his age. You could put ice on it as well but you need to wrap the ice in serval layers of towels before applying it. The best thing to do is to get him the the doctor asap

Why do you let him run around naked for?
What happens if it was a bee sting?
