A homeless friend is living with me how long should I let them stay?
Please note I am asking this question on behalf of someone that has no computer, just for the record. I gave my opinion, and they thought I was being mean.
Question:
I let a friend of mine move in 2 months ago who got kicked out of their apartment, got a dwi and totaled their car. They are drawing disability, and are on food stamps. They pay me one half of the utilities, and buy all the food. They pay no rent. They say they are saving to move, but just sit around my house all day watching my tv, drinking beer, and smoking. They used to be a drug addict and sold drugs but say they don't do that anymore. Their family and other friends turned them away so I hated to see them on the street. This buddy of mine printed out some local ads for them at around $400 a month utilites included, but the person living with me says they can't afford it.
Any professional advice on this I can give this person? What do you think I should do? I don't want to be mean.

People who don't want to be mean usually end up with such problems.
This person won't be moving in the near or far future unless they are forced to move out. The source of your problem is to let them come in in the first place. Once in, it is hard to get them to leave cos you don't want to be mean.
If you can be mean, this is what you can do........
Gather all their belongings and put them outside your house. Lock all room doors and tell them to move. If they hate you for it, so be it.

This sounds real bad. But if the guys is clean of drugs encourage him to join the military. Tell him that they provide a roof, money for food or a dining facility, and a pay based on his time in service and rank, plus free medical care. Depending on his score from a test called ASVAB will determine what jobs he is available.. If he can get waivers for his injury and one for his DUI.. then he should be good. Let a SGT who has all his $hit together put this grown boy in his place.. The military for some people helps get those who are irresposible to become responsible.. and if your not for military, i know this cause i am in the service myself that not all of us in the military are bad irresponsible dummies. Plus he possible gets to see the world and im not talking bout going to war.. The military does send us out on short non-threatening training exercises.

Since you made the arrangement for them to stay, i guess you have to deal with it. You should have put a time frame as to how long they were allowed to stay there from the beginning, so there were no surprises.
I would say, give this person 30 days to find something else. If they sitill don't leave, you have the right to legally remove them.

You have no choice but to be mean. You aren't doing them a favor by "enabling" them to be useless. Just like an alcoholic, they have to face the fact that they have a problem and get help on thier own.

They are obviously free loaders, Squatters and have no intention of leaving, paying rent or even finding work. Start the eviction process in line with the laws of you state and do it now!!!

i unquestionably have an excellent sort of questions approximately "god". i do have faith in a writer that's less complicated to call it god because of the fact each and every physique is known with what you advise, I even have tried to learn many faiths to attempt to locate the place my ideals fell in. all so some distance have basically delivered approximately greater questions i do no longer think of everyone in the international is known with the "genuine" tale. yet i think of whilst we are right here god could decide on us to be solid to one yet another and if thats no longer what he wanted then what have you ever wasted being a solid individual?, yet whilst the bible is genuine i do no longer think of he could be that disillusioned if we didnt have faith in any e book as long as we believed in him. yet all those non secular questions willchronic you loopy basically consult with him as you sense and that's going to be positive why could he provide us this life basically to spend it on demanding what happens whilst its over. basically shop an open strategies.

this is a tough and sensitive situation, but how long were you expecting them to stay in your house when you allowed them in?? talk with them about it...and dont be afraid to say what you feel after all its your house...i can imagine it can be a nuisance so tell them to get jobs ASAP, and move put, give them an ultimatum.

how long? until they create "real" serious troubles (criminal and non criminal) and problems for your buddy in return to the little benefit he derives from them and too late for him to realize and get away from these "honorable" kind of persons.
