For an adult, normally one would go through a program in the US called RCIA. These classes are normally once a week and start in the fall (about now).

These are great classes for anyone even if you are just curious about the Catholic faith. They discuss what Catholics really believe and the real (good and bad) history of the Church.

It is not brain washing, or mind control like Scientology, you are safe to attend.

If it is not for you, that is fine.

If, after learing about the Church, you want to join your first communion would most likely be at Easter. You may or may not have to be baptised. The Catholic Church does recognize most Protestant Baptisms.

For more information, you can go to the site below and find a local Church.

Nice Question, and God Bless you!

Peace!

If you are asking about a service you are going to attend and assuming it is in the Roman part of the Catholic Church, about one hour although it can go longer.

Allow five to ten minutes for initial prayers, confession of our sinfulness and pleading for mercy and giving glory to God.

Allow twenty minutes for the reading of scriptures

Allow ten minutes for the homily.

Allow five to ten minutes for communion depending upon size of church.

Allow another ten minutes for prayers at the end and blessings.

Part of this of course comes from the number of songs.

Now if this were an Easter service, allow anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. The full Roman Easter service has 28 full length scripture readings in it, by full length I mean entire chapters, psalms etc. It also has lot of other stuff in it too. The early Christian services were 4 hours long. The Roman service is a condensed service usually. The entire service that Peter left is a long service.

If you were attending a Catholic service but not part of the Roman segment of the Church, it would vary as they do not have "1st communion" per se. The other segments give communion with baptism regardless of the age of the communicant, infant or aged adult.

If you are talking about taking classes to become Catholic, then about six months. They want to make sure you really want to give your life to Jesus before entering into so important a committment.

You have to go thru Catecism classes before you can take Communion. The classes usually last for a few months.
If you are wondering how long it takes to actually take communion... about as long as it takes you to swallow. Catholic masses are usually about an hour long. Hope this helps.

Creed books, priests, nuns, instrumental music, worshipping the pope or any other human, worshipping Mary, baptizing babies, etc... Those are not found in the Bible. Indeed, if the Bible is the perfect law of liberty, then why use a creed book? Why keep adding to or taking away from God's Word? Because they wanted things done their own way, so they adopted their own traditions and sanctions. So many of their practices are anything but Biblical. Todays Christians are to use the New Testament. In order to be a true Christian, one born of water, you must follow the steps to salvation: Steps of Salvation
Hear - Rom 10:17
Believe - Heb 11:6
Repent - Acts 2:38
Confession - Matt 10:32-33
Baptism - Mark 16:16
Live faithfully - Revelation 2:10; Romans 5:1-2

Failure to do so, is not being in the Lord's church. You're not a Christian unless you're in the Lord's church. You're not in the Lord's church unless you've been baptized(and baptism is immersion-not sprinkling or pouring). And also, where in God's Word can you find the Catholic church? There is only one church, Christ's church. And he said to Peter "Upon this rock I will build MY church".. I see nothing of the Catholic church there

A person gets their first communion at age 7 or 8, so it takes 4 years to prepare. The actual act takes no more than five minutes. And I've reported the first person because they are just pewing hatred.

I don't really understand your question, a mass with children receiving their first Communion is usually about 1-2 hours.

But "riders..." What in the world??? Catholics don't worship Mary or the pope!! What religion are you thinking of??? And yes, infant baptism is taught in the Bible and so are priests and nuns!!! What do you think all the apostles were??? (They were priests.) St. Mary Magdalen was the first nun. Boy are you confused. The Catholic religion is the one begun by Christ. PROTESTANT religions were the ones started by men, acclaimated to their own feeble beliefs. And the Bible you are reading out of is tainted by Protestant alterations. Wow. You were taught a LOT of lies...
