Just read someone's question that contained the words, "I'm 13 and single" and my initial reaction was, "Lord, I hope so."

It means you're not dating anyone...Surely you were in high school and heard people say "I'm single"? Well, there are some 13 year olds in high school or eight grade, and they are grown up, so it's okay for them to say "I'm single". What would be an appropriate age to start dating? 16? That's old news. Unlike a certain person's answer, 13 year olds don't think about sex. Are you kidding me? It's not as big of a deal as you think.

Marriage is not the be all and end all of human civilization. If you are single, it means that you are not involved with anyone else and are available to date others if you choose. Being single usually refers to the relationships this person may share with someone else.

HA! It's sad b/c several generations ago, 13 year olds were thinking about skating, bicycling, Playstation (or Nintendo). Now, it's sex, relationships, sex, and sex. Not saying that this person who you are referring too was implying sex or whatever, but man! If I heard my 13 year old neice say "I'm single" ---- well, you should be!

Man, I hope so too. And single means only one, so it should mean not married, too.
