My brother was just the same! It hurt alot when I found out the next thing he had done. Each time he would say it was the last but it continued for a while. I'm not sure what hapened but one day it all fell into place for him and I'm just glad that I stood by him unlike other members of my family because now I have my old brother back. Don't let him take you for granted or treat you badly but make sure he knows you are there for when he is ready to live life again.

The only way your brother will ever change is if he listens to himself rather than anyone else trying to tell him to change his life. He is probably thinking that he is the victim and everyone and everything is against him. He will use this negative thinking to self destruct and only look out for himself and hurt a lot of people along the way. He can only change if he sees one day that he is the master of his own destiny, and therefore the creator of his problems, not the rest of the world, and that he is the one who has to decide to change. It's a lot of hard work and takes therapy and taking a long hard look at yourself to change, but if he wants to, it's not impossible...

Your brother has to learn the hard way that alcohol causes him to turn into a different person. When he drinks, he becomes mean and shows his bad side. Until HE realizes this, there's really nothing you can do about it.

No sorry to say he won't learn or maybe when he's 50. My mom told me that's when men grow up. I got eight more yrs. for my man to grow up. I have a friend like that and she still hasn't learned. I believe her son has more brains then her and he's only 9! Like they say "Some people don't ever learn"!

probably not. at that age it would be harder for u to get him help than it was for me to get my mate help. he was 18 at the time, stayed clean for a few yrs then when he was 21 he got knicked, came out went back on drugs and now he's serving a 15 yr sentence in the prison on isle of wight. i say ur bro's a fool but he can only get help of he wants it. kick him out!!!!!

Only when he hits rock bottom and owns up to having a problem. You need to leave him to it because being supportive just allows him to keep his addition going!! Hard love is the only answer.
