She is a very sneaky and snoopy cat, so if there is a plant (even if it's at the highest point in the room) she gets it and eats it, then of course throws it all up. She also has long-fur, which tends to give her an upset stomach (i.e.-hacks up hairballs often), and no matter what cat food we give her (regular, hairball remedy, canned/soft food) she still gets sick.

Also, she has recently been pooping right outside of her litter box (which is changed regularly and is the same one she has always used along with her sister) and sometimes in a completely different room. Is this a way of getting our attention or something else?

Thanks!

No plants in my house are never poisonous for cats *i make sure before i even step foot inside with them*

She only drinks water

She is still pretty spunky for a nine-year old cat; not lethargic at all.

I think a cat that is eating inappropriate food , "snacking" on the plants, and throwing up the cat food needs a diet change. She is seeking something she is not getting from her food. This bothers some cats and not all as you can attest if you have another cat without these problems.

Cat nutritionists (like at UC Davis Veterinary School) have come to the conclusion that single protein sources make for the best cat food. That means ONE meat source, not a mish-mash of turkey, chicken, beef, duck etc. Inexpensive foods are usually about 2/3 corn -- which cats don't digest well and are nothing but calories, not appropriate for cats. It is also an allergen for many cats.

Single protein source dry cat foods: CA Natural (chicken and rice only), Natural Balance (they have a venison and pea that my cats like a lot) they also make a duck and something. I haven't tried that yet. Prairie makes a good chicken dry foods though I haven't read the bag thoroughly and don't know what else is in it. It is important that you use a number of different foods so that the cat does not develop an alergy to any particular protein.

Many people say they can't afford a premium food. Cats on premium foods are satisfied, they don't eat as much of it. Their poop is less in the amount and a lot less in the smell. They don't develop obesity and/or diabetes from the excess of corn in the cheapie foods. They shed less, have fewer hairballs and skin disorders, etc, etc.

I am sure you buy the best food for your family. Doesn't your cat deserve the best? He is totally dependent on you to give him the best nutrition possible.

Actually it doesn't sound good. You said she always used the litter box before and now she isn't I would make sure you clean it everyday. If she just started throwing up she may need some blood work done to find out what is going on with her internal organs. She is nine things may be starting to fail onher.

I hope all is well.

Does your cat get milk...if so stop the milk it's extremely bad for cats. Has she been wormed??? Sometimes a cat will eat grass to make itself sick if it isn't feeling 100%...at nine also check she may have to be on a food for older cats. Please if there is any doubt consult the vet..also the plant your cat is eating may be poisonous to her...perhaps remove if you can find out what it is...I hope she gets better...best of luck xxx

well cats usually eat grass or plants when their stomach is upset, I'd call the vet and ask them if she might have worms

It sounds like she is trying to get your attention...

Maybe where she is getting older she can't make it to the litter box quite like she used to...
