they must have given her an epidural anesthesia during the delivery...chances of causing air 'embolism' is pretty rare but yes if they entered the blood vessels it can happen.
it is not called an aneurysm because it is something that would have to present for quite sometime( sometimes since the lady's birth)
if a little quantity of air has been injected it can get absorbed on its own( doctors will give her blood circulation good support till then). if it is a big bubble then it can cause temporary or long term damage ... but well depends on how her situation is.
hoping this helps..and that your sis gets well soon.will pray for her early recovery.
but anyways are you sure they said its an air embolism and not an 'amniotic fluid' em-bolus?

Well, an aneurysm is usually a weak spot or bulge in a blood vessel. An "air bubble" is probably an embolism. I hope your sister is getting better care now, and that your family knows of a very good attorney. This sounds like gross medical negligence.

A brain aneurysm is a ballooning-out of the wall of an artery in the brain.

Sounds like she got an air embolism

It's an embolism.
They should be able to reduce the size of the bubble by putting her into a heliox environment for a while.
But, yes, it's time for a medical malpractice suit.

An aneurysm is actually a weakened buldge in a vessel/vein, so no, it's not the same thing.
