1980 Roberto Duran against 1982 Aaron Pryor? I think it would be a very close fight with Duran winning a 15 round split decision.

Hey what a great question! I see this as a war with Duran the better boxer and counter puncher against the tough and hard punching Pryor who threw punches from any angle. I believe there would be moments in this fight where both men would stand toe to toe and rock each other and be a battle of wills. I believe that there could be a knockdown by each fighter but each would continue to fight hard and not give an inch to the other. I believe that Roberto Duran would win a very close split decision over Aaron the Hawk Pryor!

Pryor - W 39 (KO's 35) TF 40 - W pct 98% - KO pct 88% - wins over A.Cervantes and Arguello[2] - KO'ed by B. Young (an unknown) [by this time Pryor was a washed up and drug riddled fighter - #35 ranked fighter
Drugs probably did cost him greatest as a fighter
I absolutely can not believe that he is not ranked in the 100 greatest punchers of all time

Duran - W 103 (KO's 70) TF 119 W pct 87% KO pct 58% - wins over Leonard, Buchanan, P. Cuevas, D. Moore and C. Palomino - KO'ed by Leonard, Hearns and W. Joppy - #28 ranked puncher - #5 ranked fighter
Arguably the greatest light wt of all-time
Won titles at 135,147, 154 and 160
That "No mas/ No mas" fight was a white (bad/negative) mark on his career

Duran had more experience. Could Pryor take Duran's punches? Could Duran take Pryor's punches? As the fight went into the later rds would Pryor take a drink from that mysterious black bottle? Too close to call, whatever the outcome there would be a re-match because Pryor would fail the after fight drug test.

Nice Match! This one is tough. I think that this bout would actually be a brutal fight with alot of long exchanges. I don't think Pryor's defense was as tight as Duran's. Duran knocks Pryor down twice to rally and win a razor thin split decision Duran winning 2 of the judges cards by a total of 2 points and Pryor winning the other card by 2 points.

Duran was a very powerful puncher and pryor was all over everyone when he fought. Duran would have hurt pryor with body punches and would have knocked him out by the 6th or 7th round.

It depends, pre-no mas Duran, Duran KO'S 82 Pryor in 5. Post-no mas Duran gets stopped in 5, by quitting between rounds.

I think if it went 15 rounds Duran would tire out Pryor, unless Pryor had a special water bottle for a boost of energy.
