Oh, I totally agree with you! however, I wouldn't say it's EVERYONE, just a select few, I've noticed this since I started coming on here. It's AMAZING how truly mean and spiteful some are. AND when you point out that cats smell, (90% of the questions in CATS is about the odour of cat pee) they contact you and call you all sorts of nasties, insulting your family. I just ignore them, but I'm glad you brought this up!

I'm a cat owner and I am not nasty. I think it is unfair when anyone generalizes a group of people. Maybe its just that you only know nasty people, cats or no cats.
Just so you know, I own seven cats, three stay indoors and the other four stay outdoors. True, when you have a pet, you have to deal with their shedding fur, but I clean my house daily and vacuum every other day because this is just the kind of person I am, very neat and clean. My house doesn't smell at all! The cat's litter box is in the utility room and there is also a cat door in the same room where the indoor cats can go outside if they wish.
You shouldn't generalize, it is immature and contributes to the ignorance in the world. I don't resent your question, but I hope you will use your brain the next time.

What's to report, and why name call before someone reports it? Jumping on the defensive a bit early aren't you?
Your question would be better worded if you'd said "Why are SOME people..." since such a blanket statement as you made, is obviously incorrect and therefore not only causes you to look foolish, but insults a lot of people who own cats and who are not nasty.
My guess would be those that are nasty are probably nasty for some of the same reasons nasty non-cat owners are. They may be lazy, they may not have grown up with hygiene and tidiness as high priorities, or any number of reasons.
A lot of people like cats because they are lower maintenance than most pets...perhaps for someone who is "nasty" that's the perfect pet since it would require less from them. *shrugs*

I am not nasty and my cats are inside pets. Why would you leave yours to suffer outside. My kids are worst then my cats.
Dear Dogs and Cats,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years --canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!
To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:
All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.
Remember: Dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Usually come when called
5. Never drive your car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't wear your clothes
10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children

Why would someone want to report this question? Oh, I'm so courageous - I'm answering a cat question. Anyway, I haven't noticed that at all about people who own cats. Question is - why are you so nasty and why do you hate cats and cat owners? (By the way, cats are now the most popular pet in the U.S., so that's alot of nasty people). At least cats don't make alot of noise and poop all over the place (I like dogs alot, but I'm just saying . . . .)
P.S., I keep my cat inside because the Coyotes in town are eating everyone's cats. My house is immaculate and doesn't smell like urine because I clean it.

People who own cats are NOT nasty, that's like saying people who wear green are nasty.People are nasty if they have poor hygiene & cleaning habits. What pet you own has nothing to do with it.
I am a cat owner & have owned cats for the past 16 years. My cats have the freedom to come inside & go outside as they please & they are very clean & do not smell. They also have been taught manners & obedience just as you would teach a dog or other animal with which you choose to share your home.
My home has never smelled bad, even when I had 3 cats at one time.(I only have one at present, due to the others having passed away due to old-age)The only reason I can imagine that you are associating "nastiness" with cats is that unfortunately, you have been to a home where the people living there were too lazy to empty the litter box.Cats, like all pets require maintenance, such as their vaccinations, flea & tick prevention, baths when needed, proper nutrition, love & attention & a clean litter box.
How would your home smell if you never flushed the toilet after using it or only flushed it once a month or so?Anyway, you get the point.
SO, PLEASE DON'T ASSOCIATE CATS & CAT OWNERS, CATEGORICALLY AS BEING NASTY. THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE MET, SADLY, ARE JUST "NASTY" PEOPLE. TRUTHFULLY, DRAWING FROM MY EXPERIENCE, CATS TREASURE CLEANLINESS & ARE PROBABLY AS APALLED AS YOU ARE WITH THE STATE OF "NASTINESS" THAT THEY ARE BEING FORCED TO LIVE IN.

OK ONE - THAT WAS REALLY IGNORANT TO SAY
TWO - DONT ASSUME THAT YOU ARE GONNA GET POSSITIVE ANSWERS WITH SUCH A JUDGEFUL STATEMENT. THAT WAS NOT EVEN A QUESTION THAT WAS A STATEMENT. THREE- ITS OBVIOUSLY THE MOVIES YOU WATCH AND THE PLACE YOU LIVE AT and the people you are talking about. FOUR - OUTDOOR CATS ARE THE WORST: OF COURSE THEY ARE GONNA BE DIRTY ...THEY ARE OUTSIDE AND THE HAVE SANDPAPER TOUNGES....THAT THEY CANT WASH TO WELL WITH.!!!!!
I own two cats. I give my kittys baths when they start getting corse coats, start itching alot, smell a lil funky, or just shed. I also cuddle with my girls hardcore status. they sleep by my face and I am sensitive to smell like no other ....so I had cats my whole life and I know friends of mine that are cat lovers.
If you bath em once a month and are not lazy and give em love so they wont attck you when in the bath..... they are fine.
I could never have a dog because I live in an apartment and they are to dirty. Cats wash themselves, dont smell, can lay down and cuddle, they dont jump all over you, they are not needy, dont get me wrong i love dogs, but cats are independent, and you have to earn there love. They are alot like women. They are bitches but once you learn how to stroke em right they are yours.....
I am known for my cleanliness and "obsesive compulsive" cleaning habbits....and my cats are very clean. For the little dirt they do bring with them. Its worth it. The love they give and company and just all around cuteness.
to make this short and sweet
Your pets represent you.
of course dirty people will have dirty pets.
My cats are much cleaner then most humans I know
and dogs I know.
Just takes some love
train em to take water calmly
and keep em indoors as much as possiable.
and if you dont like cats....you just dont like em.

Obviously, you don't like cats but what's more telling is the fact that you know you are abusive with this question because otherwise you wouldn't make the comment about a coward or someone with a spine.
What I think is that it takes an idiot to come up with a question like this, and might I suggest scanning thru the classifieds. It's evident that you have wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much time on your hands.
Good day.

well, come to my house I have 2 cats and I also occationally watch my landlady's kitten. our place does not smell, I clean the litter box every day and vaccuum once a week and dust a couple of times a week. you just don't know enough people, must be that all your friends are nasty and you are the company you keep. I think it's pretty nasty to keep your cat outside, guess you really don't care about other living beings but yourself.

Cat owners aren't nasty at all-it's not the cats that make you nasty. We have 2, as well as numerous other animals, and we're pretty nice people. I know a lot of people who have dogs and are nasty (and some who have no pets)!
