I don't know why you would only have the option of Buddhism and Christianity. Why not any others?
You could pick from any of these and more (I've even given you the approximate number of people who would be worshiping with you):
Christianity: 2.1 Billion
Islam: 1.3 billion
Hinduism: 900 million
Chinese traditional religion: 394 million
Buddhism: 376 million
African Traditional & Diasporic: 100 million
Sikhism: 23 million
Juche: 19 million
Spiritism: 15 million
Judaism: 14 million
Baha'i: 7 million
Jainism: 4.2 million
Shinto: 4 million
Cao Dai: 4 million
Zoroastrianism: 2.6 million
Tenrikyo: 2 million
Neo-Paganism: 1 million
Unitarian-Universalism: 800 thousand
Rastafarianism: 600 thousand
Scientology: 500 thousand

I would never recommend Christianity or any specific religion because they are all mythology. However, Buddhism stands out because it is not necasarrily a religion. You can be a Buddhist without believing in Budda as a God. It can be a system of how you live your life. Therefore, given those 2 options, you should be a Buddist. They have a great outlook on life, and would help you live a happier life.

If you have never heard of religion go with Buddhism. Christianity is great, but it doesn't work without a pant-load of faith, best applied early in life. Buddhism starts from square one, no trust, no faith, no blind acceptance. Just take a look and if it makes sense, be Buddhist; if Christianity makes more sense be Christian. The only problem is that in Buddhism you'll be fine as a good Christian, in Christianity you'll burn in hell forever... wait, maybe I should convert.

There is actually no reason you can't practice both. Christianity is a religion and buddhism is a philosophy. They are not mutually exclusive and actually compliment each other very well. Intresting enough there is growing number of christian and jewish believers who follow a buddhist philosophy.

Well, if you want to live for yourself and go to hell, I would say Buddhism is your religion of choice. However, if you want to find true happiness and fulfill your purpose in life (which is to love and serve God), you must become a traditional Catholic. This is the only true form of Christianity because it is the only one that follows exactly what Christ instructed us to do. All other Protestant (and modern "Catholics") just do what pleases them and their supposed "intellectuals."

Hint: Accept only what you can demonstrate to yourself with logic.
One religious founder says to be like a little child and just believe.
The other religious founder says to accept nothing unless you have sound reasoning to accept it, and if you reject my teachings then fine.
"Rely not on the teacher/person, but on the teaching. Rely not on the words of the teaching, but on the
spirit of the words. Rely not on theory, but on experience.Do not believe in anything simply because you
have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do
not believe anything because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything because it is
written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and
elders. But after OBSERVATION AND ANALYSIS [emphasis mine], when you find that anything agrees with reason and is
conducive to the good and the benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."
Who said that? Another hint, not Jesus.

I would say choose one and study it for a month. Then choose the other and study it for a month. If necessary, flip a coin to decide which you want to study first. After the two months are over, if one of them speaks to you, then study it more intensely... or find a couple other religions you are curious about.

If you are using reason to decide between them, you will arive at the conclusion "neither". Buddhism is less annoying to others, and doesn't require you to tithe or go to church, but on the other hand, Christianity is the dominant religion in the west.
It depends on what your criteria are.

You should follow Christianity. God is the one and only god and budda is a false "god".
One way to believe this is by reading the bible. One miracle Jesus (Gods son) performed is walking on water. He wouldn't of been able to do this if it weren't for God.
God created the heavens and the Earth and ever thing on earth. Jesus died for our sins so we could have everlasting life if we believe in him and obey his commandments.
Budda only said rub my tummy for good luck. He didn't do anything.
I hope this helps and please read the BIBLE and follow Christianity.
