You can't specifically help those individuals who have given up or who are choosing to 'drop out' of the way our society is set up.

You CAN try to be a force of change when it comes to alleviating the conditions which cause people to feel hopeless enough to drop out, though.

Volunteer your time:

Either at an after-school program, or in a mentoring program to help disadvantaged youth to realize their potential.

In a literacy program to help illiterate people learn to read.

At an organization like 'Food Not Bombs' that helps to feed people who need help.

Take your friends with you, talk to people about the work you do and why you do it- inspire others to join you, or to look into volunteering.

I know you may think that what you can do might not be enough to change everything, but it's what you can do- and that's as much as can be asked of you.

I believe ultimately it's a person's right to choose if they live in big fancy house, an apartment, a log cabin, or outside. If we offer homeless shelters, drug rehab, and welfare programs, we're doing everything we can to help those who want help.
