'God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.'

If God could give his only begotton son for making humanity have an everlasting life, can't I and you give in God's name taking, His example, five a few embryos that I we are capable of making dozens of?

Because many Christians consider embryos to be little people. What is the point in sacrificing little babies to save an old person? The older person had his chance at life already. Why deny the embryo the same chance at life.

If one could easily make stem cells without sacrificing the embryo, then the issue would no longer be controversial.

....................................
Q. Why is it wrong to destroy embryos for their stem cells?

A. Biologically, an embryo represents one of the earliest stages of human life. Human development progresses in a continuum, from the single cell to the embryonic stage, then a fetus, newborn, toddler, adolescent and adult. Embryos, whether created through in vitro fertilization, cloning or sexual intercourse, are fully human and deserve protection. The weakest and most vulnerable member of the human family — the embryo — should not be the subject of scientific experimentation. It is never morally or ethically justified to destroy one human in order to possibly save another. Advances in adult stem cell research provide both tangible hope for patients and an ethical avenue for developing the therapies they need.

We Christians are against embryonic stem cell research because we know that eventually things will get out of hand. It is wrong to create life, an embryo, and then destroy it so that we can attempt to save another life. Now, if we found a different way to do this research, then I would be all for it. But this way is just wrong.

No no no, that is so wrong. Only God should create babies. Besides there is no reason for embryonic stem cell research, science can get all they need from adults and from umbilical cords after the birth of a baby. Embryonic stem cell research is needless and evil.

Good question.

Until a god starts providing cures for all the nasties on this earth, I guess scientists are going to have to take the helm.
And if those embryos are as a by-product of fertility treatment and would be left to perish otherwise, I say it puts them to good use. Kudos to the people who give permission for those embryos to be used.

Stem cell research helped save my husband's life; I support it wholeheartedly.

Well, those embryos have the chance of becoming life. Then we shouldn't "kill" them even if it will supposedly benefit us. Plus humans shouldn't be trying to play God. If God wanted us to know about the things we would learn in research then we would. I don't care how many embryos we could make, killing even one is wrong. Jesus died to save us not give us the oppurtunity to kill others.

God did not destroy life as Christ rose from the dead.

There are still too much promise (and results) in the Adult and cord blood stem cells to be having to use stem cells which destroy a potential life.

Good point. Here's a better one: Why are Xtians against stem cell research when they believe that we are born sinners , conceive in iniquity & yet the unborn embryo, fetus, babe is innocent.

The Catholic Church does not believe in killing one child to help another.

The Church SUPPORTS the use of umbillical cord and adult stem cell use, that is where almost all of the success has come from anyway.

Peace!

If it's being taken from the placenta, after the birth of a child, I'm not against it. If they are taking it from aborted babies (murdered babies) I can't condone it.

Grace to you and God Bless!

If atheists use stem cells, will they replace God?
