Confirmation first appears in the Acts of the Apostles 8:14-17, 9:17, 19:6 and in Hebrews 6:2.

It is called Chrismation in the Eastern Church.

In the West, the bishop is the proper minister of chrismation or confirmation as seen in Acts, where they were baptized but it was also considered necessary to send them to an apostle for chrismation as well. Presbyters are also admitted as ministers of the mystery of chrismation, but their authority is by delegation from their bishop.

In baptism, you become One with God and are cleaned of all sin. In chrismation or confirmation, you become sealed with the Holy Spirit.

Confirmation is the filling of the Holy Spirit laid on by a successor to an apostle or their designated minister.

confirmation is when you confirm that you will be faithful and stay faithful in what you believe. it's a promise that you make to everyone that you will stay with your religion and not go to some other one.
