Class is good manners,intelligence,
accomplishments,humility,
common sense...It isn't about being perfect, but it's about being good, being the best that you can possibly be.
Ann Landers wrote a column on class several years ago;here it is:
Class never runs scared. It is sure-footed and confident. It can handle whatever comes along.
Class has a sense of humor. It knows that a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations.
Class never makes excuses. It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes.
Class knows that good manners are nothing more than a series of small, inconsequential sacrifices.
Class bespeaks an aristocracy that has nothing to do with ancestors or money. Some wealthy "blue bloods" have no class, while some individuals who are struggling to make ends meet are loaded with it.
Class is real. It can't be faked.
Class is comfortable with its own skin.It never puts on airs.
Class never tries to build itself up while tearing others down.Class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse.
Class can "walk with the kings and keep its virtue and talk with crowds and keep the common touch."(Thank you, Rudyard Kipling).Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because that person is comfortable with himself.
If you have class, you've got it made.If you don't have class,no matter what you have,it doesn't matter.

Ann Landers

One of the most famous "classy" people was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She was born into a wealthy family, but her father lost most of it during the stock market crash in the 20th century. Her parents also divorced, which was quite unusual in the thirties. She married John F. Kennedy, but he was a serial philanderer. She had great highs and lows, and this is how she looked upon her life of good fortune, and bad fortune:"I have come to the conclusion that we must not expect too much from life.We must give to life at least as much as we receive from it.Every moment is different from the other. The good, the bad, the hardship, the joy,the tragedy, love and happiness are all interwoven into one single interwoven thing called LIFE.You cannot separate the good from the bad.And perhaps, there is no need to do so either."

A person who considers others feelings before their own, who doesn't need to swear to get a point across, or be loud or obnoxious. Money doesn't define class, but actions do.

A classy person is above all *kind*. Has good manners, puts others first, does not gossip or talk behind people's backs, listens more than talks, and does not use foul language. The classy person is the one who helps out in a crisis, shares what they have with those in need, and is never arrogant or overbearing.

Class has nothing to do with thinking you are better than someone else. Classy is not a synonym for Superior.

The dictionary defines classy as highly fashionable and elegant.

a person who portrays themselves as open-minded, respectful, dresses well, neat and for the occassion, has a sense of conservative taste, great manners, doesn't use inappropriate word choice (it is a choice), educated, wouldn't do things to humiliate themselves or others who are close to them.

sadly, some people associate class with $$$, the finer things in life and having power trips, but i don't believe that's necessary to be classy.

In my own opinion, it defines a person who is, above all things, respectful. A person who shows consideration and respect for: him/herself, for the environment, other people, cultures and ideas. And, most importantly, a person who puts him/herself above circumstances, but never above fellow human beings.

I have always defined "Having Class" as "Not Being the best there is or having the best stuff, but doing your best with the stuff you have".

A person with class presents themselves well, is educated and (most importantly) treats everyone with kindness and respect - not just people they think can help them or are in some way their 'equal'.
