I'm getting a filter soon. But in the meantime, how can i care for my hair to prevent further dryness or damage. And what products should I use??

No it doesn't but it's hard for you to get the ideal effects from the shampoo that you are using, e.g. it might be harder for the shampoo to be rinsed clean or wash your hair effectively

It does make hair drier and more brittle but only if you're stuck with it for years. Short term really isn't going to do a whole lot of damage.

I've had hard water for ten years and as long as I do a liberal spray of Infusium 23 (brown bottle) right after I wash & condition, it's all good.

I would think it does as hard water is full of calcium deposits which block your pores and don't allow for your hair cuticles to be open. Therefore they sit on your hair shaft & create hard brittle hair. Also you use more shampoo w/hard water because of this. I belive rain water is best in the mean time (although it has to rain, duh) so when I was presented w/this problem many yrs. ago we used Calgon (powder water softner) but beware that w/a softening agent you don't need as much shampoo or conditioner. Also try a balsam product.

It does dry it out more. Use a gelatin based shampoo to trap the moisture you have.

Yes it does, you should use a good detoxifying shampoo. Aveda has a real good one that I use once or twice a week.

use a moiturizing shampoo and conditioner....and once a week use a deep conditioner. you can also use leave in treatments. i use pantene leave in. it's light spray in so it doesn't weigh my hair down.
