Only the kind that has limited use, like to call home, etc.
I think they don't need all the bells and whistles, but just a basic phone.

They should be allowed to bring their cell phone to school, but they should be off while in classes. Some children could need them in the travelling to or from school, is mommy or daddy late, to have mommy or daddy let them know that someone else will pick them up and it's ok to go with them, to let somebody know where to pick them up, when to pick them up, emergencies, etc. So the phone has many very valid uses, they just shouldn't be used during class time.

I think they should be allowed in lunch to talk to their friends and stuff and should be allowed to bring them b/c when you leave to go home or to a friends house you'll need to be in touch w/ your family. But they're bad during tests and regular classes b/c kids and cheat. My school freaks out if you go out in the hall towards the door where there's no classrooms during study hall on a pass to call your mom. They take it a little too far. Technically we aren't even supposed to bring them. I mean what if your car breaks down how will you get ahold of AAA or your parents?

No, not during the hours of school. That's what voice-mail is for.
If there is really an emergency, I think the office can notify them.

Only if they are on the list for an organ transfer.

Yes, so they can call you when something happens and the teachers aren't doing their jobs. My 9yr. old has one but he doesn't take it to school yet.
