It's like telling a child that Santa Clause doesn't actually exist. I don't think that's cruel, it may be a little harsh though, depending on how old the child is.

Well it all depends on the facts and the way it is presented to them that is important. I mean you cannot force people into a way of thinking due to facts, although it is unclear as to what facts we are refering to. One must relate to the person about the fact presented and also the reasoning behind it, because the human mind can be reason with.Cruelty comes only when one is force to accept a fact despite its truth, at gunpoint. Communication is the key to reason out the true facts whatever it is to be.

Christmas really isn't very much too do with christianity if you look up the facts! No seriously...
Pagans would celebrate by decorating trees outside there homes back in the middle ages, for there religious celebrations, the church didn't like that, so decided on a cull, (very godly and loving!)
So they went underground so to speak, and brought the trees inside!
Thats one of them!
Each to there own...
And every child needs to grow, one the fairy tales wear off!
Peace!

Honestly I don't think that it is cruel to convince a christian because that just proves you know more than christians since they seem to think they're know-it-all's all the time. They waste their time trying to convince people and even god knows they overdo it then pretty soon when they show up at the next door they have someone convincing them that knows more and makes them leave, but they will come back for a debate because christians are so hard headed that they don't know just when to shut up and stop pushing people into their religion. I mean there's tons of people out there who could believe in jesus and god more than christians ya know? They think just because they're christians means it's impossible for anyone to know anymore and that they think that they don't have to read the bible and already they know every detail in it. Well they better take back their word because god has done almost everything for me and it didn't take me to read the bible because they say with just a bit of faith you can move mountains (not SERIOUSLY move mountains but you know what I mean).

I personally am Agnostic but I believe that everyone has a right to believe in what they want and what feels right and true to them. It is no one's business to try and push their beliefs on someone else whether it be someone Christian trying to convert a non- Christian or an Atheist trying to present a Christian with "the facts". There is a difference with presenting and pushing btw.

Presents do not come from God. They come from you.
YOU made the mistake by ever telling a child this in the first place.
2. There is no father Christmas. who told you this? They pull'n your leg, pal.
3. Christians will hear Truth. and sometimes it hurts.

What facts are you referring to? Let me ask you a question: Is it cruel to present Atheists with all the documentary evidence detailing the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (not counting the Bible), which far exceeds the documentary evidence that Christopher Columbus sailed from Italy in 1492 and found the "new world"?

Yeah it is..
You obviously aren't keen on their facts. You have to know you're not going to win any converts by behaving this way. You're just being a d***. Ask a question that people care about instead of making these veiled insults to people who will be up in arms no matter what you post.

I don't know about cruel. Futile, maybe, especially if you're trying to convert an adult.
But gently letting a child know that their folks and that nice priest don't have all the answers ... that might help, if they're young enough, and you can make your arguments convincing enough.

Would you like a factual answer or fictious one? Present your opinion, I will present mine, It is a FACT that only one of us can be right and the only test of that is time. In the mean time, I will take my chances with God. What about you?
