Larry would outbox Frazier for most of the fight. I do think Joe would have his moments a trip to the canvas for Larry wouldn't be out of the question. However I think Holmes wins a close decision.l

Larry Holmes at his peak, around 1981-1984, was a tough cookie, but if you look at his opponents, Pinklon Thomas, Frank Bruno and the other heavyweights, they were clearly not in the class of those Frazier faced, in the early seventies.

However, both had similar styles, to absorb punches and wear the opponent down. But I think Smokin'Joe was a harder hitter (something Ali found out). My feeling is that Frazier, who also had a big punch on him would have won decisively by the 8th or 9th rounds.

The Holmes that beat Gerry Cooney could have won a problematic unanimous decision. Larry's jab could have been perplexing for Joe to deal with and he could are transforming into lumped up. Larry additionally threw a greater proper uppercut than Ali so Frazier could must be leary. it can be a problematic and exciting experience with Holmes doing sufficient to win by utilising 2 or 3 factors.

Styles make fights. I think Frazier would be able to apply enough pressure that Holmes would have trouble "boxing". Frazier KO round 11, after absorbing alot of punishment from Holmes while trying to bore thru to land that crunching left hook to the body and head. Toughguy really good matchup!

very tough question i agree with other reply that while frazier was all out warrior he took alot of punishment during his career larry holmes didnt pocess a bigger punch than frazier and didnt fight many of the shall we say classic era boxers i do believe if the two were to meet holmes would just shade due to his most important boxing factor his ring skills he would be able to defend better than alot of fraziers opponents

Good question dude. I like Holmes i think he was faster and a bit "slicker" then smoking joe. Size, strengh, and Jaw are a push in my mind this one goes the distance.

Was ali really the greatest or did he just have other very goods fighters to rival in an era where heavy weight boxing had the worlds attention.
