I just want to drop a letter, but it needs to be express, but the petsmart is right there. grrrr. Also, about the "allergic" answer, what about the people who wear cologne or perfume. Do we need to be considerate of that?

No they do not allow dogs inside unless they are working dogs for handicapped people.
It is just a rule and if they break it for you they have to break it for everyone Else also. Why have rules if you do not enforce them and if you do you have to enforce them equally.

I guess it depends on the post office. The small one by my house doesn't have anything posted, so after hours if I'm going to drop mail, sometimes I'll walk the dog up there and take him in with me for a minute. One of the larger post offices near where I work does have a sign that says something to the effect of "No dogs allowed, unless medical dogs."

A service dog would be. Not sure about really small dogs or those you can carry. I guess it would depend on the size and location of the post office. I've never seen a "no dogs allowed" sign in a p.o.

You could probably get away with it in a very small town, but not in a larger post office. I live in a tiny community and I don't think anyone would say anything if I brought a Chihuahua inside.

i used to all the time. i grew up in a very small town. I'd walk my dog down to pick up the mail, and we'd chat with the other people inside and Ben (he was the owner). the post office was a little coffee shop and a gas station too.

The answer is no, not pets but dogs that are therapy dogs or helper dog are since they are not pets. Our local post office will let people bring in their dogs to go and get their mail from their post office boxes but it is against the rules.

I have taken my little dog in with me several times and no one ever says anything. You just can't make a big deal of it. Just do it, what are they going to do to you? I don't think the post office hands out tickets, besides unless you are taking a killer dog in there, I don't think they mind. It is too hot to leave them in the car.
Good luck!!!

Dogs should not go into any stores unless they are Guide Dogs. Anything else is rude and inconsiderate, no matter if it is "a few minutes" or not.

Do you think people who are allergic to dogs will be any less allergic if it's only for "a few minutes?" If you can't take care of your dog properly, why do you have one?

Not allergic, but sensitive to boorishness.

Only dogs that are used for handicapped people, or police dogs that are on duty.

MOST PUBLIC PLACES ONLY ALLOW DOGS WHO HELP HANDICAPPED IN SUCH PLACES. TO BE SURE ASK THE POST MASTER BUT I'LL BET THE ANSWER IS NO.
