That depends on how much time you have to devote to a pet. If you have very little time then you may want to reconsider getting a pet at all, but dogs require a lot more attention and time than a cat.

I think a kitten because dogs need to run around and a cat will just stay inside.....even though a cat needs anttention a dog thrives on attention you won;t always be there for the puppy....if you r in collage a cat would be a much better option for you...personaly I would always go with the cute little puppy well good luck on the puppy or kitten ,dog or cat

Well, it all depends on how much you are going to be home, how much care you want to put into it, how much time you have on your hands and expences. It's all up to you, but now I have a cat and she is VERY easy to take care of...All you have to do is give it food and water and clean it's litter box. Play with it once in a while. Cats can stay alone for more periods of time, but dogs need people around quite often...They need to be let out and have company. If you aren't going to be home a lot then I would get a cat. If you're going to be home a lot, I would get a puppy and a kitten!! They're so funny together!!

Cats don't need walks, and use litter boxes. They are great for apartments, and are ok if left alone for a couple days. Dogs have a hard time being left alone, and do need more work than cats usually. It depends on the individual animal and how much time you want to spend taking care of your pet instead of doing your homework. I would go with a cat, but if you really want a dog, a small one would probably be better.

If you're not going to be home a lot, go for a cat. I, personally am a dog person, but you have to take the dog outside and walk it. Dogs are VERY people-oriented. They need attention, and if you're in college, you likely will not have enough time to spend with a dog - even if it's only a little one. Cats are more independent. They also do not need walking and will go to the bathroom in a litterbox. Definitely a plus if you can't be there for whatever reason. Wait until you have more time to spend with a dog.

If I were you, I'd choose a dog. Most likely the dog is house trained, and way easier to control compared to a puppy. Dogs are also a lot easier to clean up after, so I wouldn't get any type of feline. :D In my house, I have two cats, a dog, and a pygmy goat. But for someone in college, choose a dog.

I'll always say a dog--some of the best friends I've ever had were canine. There's no greater feeling than coming home to your dog, because they will love you unconditionally. On the other hand, my grandfather used to say you never own a cat.

i'm a dog lover so i would say get a dog. just a small one like a cocker spaniel. if you're planning to get a puppy make sure you have enough time to train and play with it.
and before making a commitment to own one, make sure you have a spare time to play, and exercise your dog.

full grown, already litter trained cat. Dogs shed more, make more noise, eat more, and require lots of attnetion. [Full grown, trained] cats are self sufficient, require very little food, shed less, and don't require lots of attention.
