He will sometimes talk like me but very rarely. i just thought they would talk like the person they love the most. I talk to him all the time. Oh and also he talks all the time when it's just me and some girlfriends and he is very quiet when he is in the room? WHY?

Some birds have shown signs of preferring lower tones. Perhaps your voice is higher than your boyfriends, and it is just the birds preference to mimic the sounds he likes more being a deeper, lower tone. It doesnt make him love you any less though, so dont let it bother you. If you want, try talking to him in a deeper, soft, low voice, and see what happens.

My wife's Grey loves her and our two girls but I seem to have a hold on him without really trying at all. Grey's are amazingly intelligent animals ( proven the smartest) and can sense if there is an Alpha like figure in the setting. If your bf is the Alpha there, then your Grey has picked up on that. Grey's love to listen and talk and if your bf talks to him a lot, that also scores big points with the bird! Greys also mimic everything. Phones, alarm clocks, door bells, so if he is mimicking your bf, that is no surprise either. He might just like the sound of your bf's voice.

He may prefer the male tone. Our grey sounds more like a man than a woman. There has been several times when I've thought my husband was home because Charlie was in the living room talking. I could tell you some stories but I dont think I've got enough room in answers. LOL

Our african grey goes crazy when my son 21 walks in the room I think she has a crush on him lol ! She calls him allday long and he can make her dance and throws kisses at him and blinks her eyes flirtacious a him and she get real quiet when my sons female friend walks in the room . The bird will let my son touch her beak but when the friend tries she backs off and says "NO"!! She says all sorts of neat things it's a riot! In time your bird will adjust and mimic you too. African birds are loads of fun to have.
