No, many non-spiritual people are "truly happy".

There are many interpretations of the word 'spiritual' According to my own understanding, I would say yes: true happiness and contentment cannot come to one who is closed off to the spiritual aspect of their own being. But that said, I think one can be agnostic or even atheist and still be more spiritual than one who is religious...or even one who is following a spiritual practice with Realization as the intention.

A spiritual person may not be consciously awake to the transcendent, but if they are developing on the spiritual 'line' or path within them they are spiritual whether they know it or not. Are they looking for, owning, and letting go of the shadow parts of themselves.... instead of projecting shadow onto others? Are they intent on bringing the good, the true and the beautiful into the world while refusing to give power to that which isn't from Love and Truth within? Are they transforming -- their actions and words becoming more and more aligned with their highest potential? Are they facing their fears consciously instead of stuffing them into their subconscious 'warehouse'? Are they looking within for answers to their questions instead of relying on trusted sources in the world? Are they willing to let go of the unneeded and destructive parts of themselves? Willing to grow? Willing to let go of being 'right' and being admired and also letting go of the fear of being rejected, hated, not included with the 'clan'? And doing all the above and more in order to make the world a better place for all?

A person can be totally 'against' the very idea of 'spirituality' and yet be more spiritual than those who claim to be spiritually 'enlightened' (or getting there). Actions speak louder than words, and enlightenment is merely human potential that is actualized.....whatever working definition is used to do so is 100% ok with Divine.

Thanks for an interesting question.

I don't think it's a requirement - I think there are those who can be truly happy and content with existence solely on this plane, without spiritual concerns.

Like so many things, it depends on the individual, and I don't think there's any one all-encompassing, "right" answer to a question like that.

Religion and spirituality are not the same. You are obviously a very spiritual person, and it's good for you that it hasn't been clouded by religion. And you sound happy, so stick with it.

But I don't think you have to be spiritual to be happy. You have to decide to be happy or not for yourself.

Don't confuse religion and spirituality. They each exist independantly. Spiritual striving creates happiness. The opposite (evil, want, jealousy, greed, avarice, etc. etc.) create unhappiness.

yes, it has everything to do with that, otherwise we find hapiness out of the things that is from the world, mislead us , and so we loose the only way to Eternal life- you can still do a lot of fun things while being spiritual- it is just different !

I feel happy and content because I know God is watching over me and my family and I can go to Him for every need and blessing.

It depends on what you mean by 'spiritual'. I hear that some people feel spiritual when they kill others in the name of some god.

to find true peace i think one has to venture to the spirit realm, not neccessarirly any current organized religions, they are great guides, but just the journey to find the soul in general.
