They will be learning letters of the alphabet, beginning with the curved ones (C,O,Q,G,etc.) and the teacher suggested parents send snacks that begin with that letter; any ideas????

Crazy Caterpillar Critters

OATMEAL COOKIES:
1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour, sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
3 cups rolled oats, quick-cooking
Cream together; shortening and both sugars.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt and add to egg mixture.
Blend well. Stir in coconut, walnuts and rolled oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

QUICHE
1 frozen unbaked pie shell
1 medium onion
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
4 eggs
1/2 lb. swiss cheese
Preheat oven to 400. Bake the frozen pie shell for 10 minutes. Remove. Chop and saute the onion in the oil. Beat the eggs, grate the cheese. Place onions on the bottom of the pie shell, then pour the eggs over the onions. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the eggs. Bake for 45 minutes. But into 12 wedges, then cut the wedges in half. Makes 24 small servings.

Granola Bars
2 cups granola
2 eggs (beaten)
dash of vanilla
Combine the granola and eggs in a greased 8-inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cut into 8 bars. When cool, spread with jam, honey or peanut butter.

Graham Cracker Treat
Spread peanut butter on cracker and arrange marshmallows in the shape of the
letter "G" on the top. Broil for a few minutes until marshmallows are golden and then arrange raisins on the top of the melted marshmallow

You want to be careful with the pbj cause some kids are allergic. How C=cheese & crackers, B= banana, G=granola, try finding what allergies are in the class and then make cookies in the shape of the letters.

make little ceaser parmesan cups get parm. cheese and shred it onto a silpat mat, make small circle chapes and melt in oven until golden. only do a few at a time, because the next step you need to mold the cheese"cups" around something ... maybe adry measuring cup or a shot glass would be best, if you make too many at once, the "cups" will harden before you have the chance to mold them then make a simple caesar salad with romaine and bought dressing. Cut the romaine small enough to fit nicely in the cups. Plus you dont want ppl taking a bite and having long strings of lettuce falling out of his/her mouth. theyre very simple, healthy and delicious.

Make a pbj and using a cookie cutter you can cut shapes like letters of the alphabet.

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Therefore as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
