is it true there were people before Adam and eve according to the bible?
Gen 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
Gen 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch."
There were:
1: Other people who would find Cain and kill him
2: Other people living in Nod, at this point in time Adam had no other children other than Cain and Abel. Seth was born later, and the 'other children' were born after Seth.
3. Enough people to populate a city called Enoch in the land of Nod. Three people, is not a city.
"Gen 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat [a son] in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
Gen 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: "

The element you are missing here is time.
There is no reason not to believe Cain's wife was a grown child of Eve.
There is no reason to believe that many people, also descendents of Adam and Eve, were not populating the earth. The bible does not say how much time passed between the birth of Cain and his sojourn.
Every city starts with but a single building. The Bible does not state how large (or small) that city might have been.
Hebrew - er, awr, aw-yar' - a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense (even of a mere encampment or post): - Ai [from margin], city, court [from margin], town.

I believe that Adam and Eve were not just two people but rather, symbolic of a group of peoples where there were many Adams or men and many Eves or women.
I also believe that they were created by God through the process of evolution, as a course of these 6 "days" that are spoken of in the bible, which are again, symbolic of time.
At that time in history, time as we know it as a human tool of measure had not yet been invented, so what a "day" is is highly subjective, but in no way will anyone ever convince me that it was 24 of our human hours. More like a millions of our human years.
The bible is not to be taken literally. Most of the stories are incomplete allegories or metaphors which we need to use some common sense around translating. Unfortunately sense is a lot less common that you'd think.
Quite frankly, I do not believe that creationism and evolution are mutually exclusive concepts and neither side has given evidence to sufficiently eliminate the other.

Who is to say that there weren't any children befors Cain and Abel? Just because it doesn't state it does not mean that it wasen't or didn't happen. I guess Christ only ate a few times in his life since the bible only state a few occasions. It might be that up till the time of Cain and Abel there wasen't anything to write about. The bible isn't just a history of the happenings, but something for us to learn from. The story of Cain and Abel is a great story for us to learn from. That is probably the reason they are the first children "mentioned" in the Bible, it does not mean the were the first born.

There are NO indications that there were people here before Adam... it does however indicate that Adam and Eve had children before Cain and Abel. The Bible never says they were their first children, in fact, they were told to go out and multiply before they fell, also, when they DID fall... God told Eve that He would greatly "increse" her pains in childbirth... she would have had to have them before to be able to increse them. Many years went by before Cain was an adult and went to be married, incest was not a sin before the earth had pleanty of people and God made a law against it.

Yes, the people before adam & eve were our primates ancestors who descended from tree and began living on the plains, started to walk upright & eventually evolved into Homo sapiens. From then the mythical adam & eve story started.

Adam was the first man with a soul and the part of himself that he gave to eve was not a rib but his soul. When two people love they join together their souls become knit together. The preadamites where people with out souls.

This is one of those things that is open to interpretation....just like most of the rest of the Bible....one way to think of it (that makes the most sense) Adam and Eve were not individual people....Adam=mankind and Eve=womankind....

No. Cain married one of his sisters. The pre-adamite people are followers of Satanic theology.
