An ideal world would definetly be a world without religion. Religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began. There is considerable evidence to classify religion as evil, and talk of religion (Gods etc) should be banned. Because the records prove over and over again throughout humanity that religion is clearly responsible for crimes against humanity, taking part in any religious activity should also be outlawed and made a criminal offence.
The world would be a much happier and peaceful place if religion ceased to exist. Although there are some decent religious believers and preachers, they are unwittingly spreading evil around our world, and that they should simply keep their beliefs and thoughts to themselves in the best interests of humanity, or suffer the consequences for their actions.
People should consider that the world would be like Heaven if religion ceased to exist, but all the believers and preachers have turned the planet into Hell.
Imagine this. You’ve just bought a new home which you furnish with all sorts of nice fittings and fixtures, then prepare the grounds and garden. You plant a wide range of trees, shrubs, flowers, plants and vegetables. You clip and prune as time goes on, spray the weeds, and generally keep your property in good shape.
Many years pass and your gardens are flourishing, not a weed to be seen anywhere. You head off on holiday, a weed pops up and bugs start to crawl all over it. Not to worry, when you return home you spray the gardens, killing all the bugs and weeds. Everything is back to normal.
Now consider the universe. After billions of years a little planet (weed) called Earth pops up and it’s crawling with bugs called humans. Do you really think the gardener (or creator) really cares about the bugs and weeds? Do you think the gardener cares if he destroys you? Do you think that the bugs (humans) on the weed (Earth) have any idea what’s going on in the rest of garden (universe)?

Oooh... That's a toughie. Let me answer your three specific questions:
1. Without. No offence. In my ideal world, alternate visions of the divine and the afterlife could, and maybe should, continue - but not under the format of an organised set of beliefs. As far as I can see, god-belief may have been of positive effect to some people, but religion never has been.
2. With. Absolutely. Science exists whether or not we're aware of it. Science is nature and it's predictable rules. Learning what we can of it is a great and noble pursuit.
3. With. 'Variety is the spice of life', they say, and I love meeting people with different outlooks, perspectives, philosophies, personalities, likes and dislikes, etc. Different strokes for different folks, right?

It's a tough question, and there are quite a few aspects I would like my ideal world to have.
1. One where everybody has the chance to realise their potential and is given an equal opportunity to achieve what they hope for themselves. Not making them equal, but giving the people struggling all day just for enough to eat the same opportunities to achieve what they want as someone like me has.
2. One in which nobody is given the opportunity to lord power over or abuse others, and no-one can take the subservience of another for granted.
3. One in which no-one can be persecuted for their beliefs, and in which everyone has the freedom to believe that which they want to. I think hand in hand with that has to go freedom from indoctrination of all kinds, including religion, in childhood. A child cannot make a free and rational decision and certain things, such as religion and politics, should not be taught to young children. I think this would free peoples' minds and would seriously the dividing lines that force people into conflict with each other...
4. I think nationalism and regionalism should not be encouraged as they are now. The belief that your country is the greatest, just because you were born in it is the source of a great deal of conflict and suffering.
I'm sure I could think of many more, but I think those are the key features that could make the world a more harmonious place.
In answer to your specific points:
I don't think religion is necessary or important, but I would not disallow it in any way - people should be free to choose their beliefs. But, as I said before, I think indoctrination into religion during childhood is dangerous and restricts individual freedom.
Differences - absolutely, the world thrives on differences. But celebrating differences goes hand in hand with promoting tolerance, and I think the aspects I quoted above would promote that tolerance.
And science - science is essential to progress and the betterment of society, to easing the burden of suffering on humanity and most importantly, to me as a scientist, to answer the many, many questions we all have about the world around us.
Just my two cents.

I don't want to make the ideal world, just have a little piece of it to make MY ideal world on.
I don't presume to be wise enough to know how to make everyone happy, or to be just and fair to the whole world. But I do know what I want for myself.
I want an orchard and a vineyard. A complete garden actually. I want to be able to be independent from the rest of this world. I suppose my own Eden is about right.

If the world would follow the teachings of Jesus and the other prophets then we could live as one in peace. Religions divide people, the spiritual reality behind the teachings of the prophets is the truth that can unify the world. Science is a blessing from God that should be embraced to better understand ourselves and his creation.

Vive l'difference! Celebrate the differences, live in peace with the differences. Wouldn't we have a pretty dull world if we were all the same...like candy in a jar? Of course religions are possible and even a good thing....celebrating God. Science examines all things in our material existence. Why dismiss their contribution?
