You usually feel better fairly quick. I have a few tips for you...

Don't drink coffee or regular tea for at least a few weeks. This is awful, but those substances are brutal on a bladder wall that is inflamed.

Take two alka seltzers (in water--duh) and the pain will lessen within minutes.

Cranberry is good, but too much coupled with your antibiotics can send you into a yeast infection, so you can buy cranberry pills and get the benefit without the sugar.

AZO is an over the counter med for bladder woes. It will make your pee flaming orange/red and can upset your stomach but it does work. Never take it on an empty tummy--barfing will follow.

Some people swear by eating 1 can of asparagus a day for 5 days. There is a factor of your body's pH being off and asparagus is going to set this straight. I can't vouch for this, but I have heard it enthusiastically and numerous times.

Don't even think about not finishing your meds, take them all with lots of water. Honestly, do the alka seltzer thing first....it really works very quick. Take care of yourself, rest a bit, avoid sex and coffee and alcohol too for a bit, no bubble baths either. You will get better quick. Good luck!

Can take a couple of days.

If you haven't noticed improvement in 3-4 days you should see your doctor again. Perhaps the bug is resistant (if it is a bladder infection).

As always, different people will react differently depending on how severe the infection was to begin with, how good your immune system is, etc. etc.

You usually lose that feeling within the first 24 - 36 hours after you start antibiotics. That's assuming it's a bacterial infection - if things continue, you might want to contact your doc so that a culture is taken to make sure you're taking the correct medication for your specific infection.

24-48 hours drink lots of cranberry juice but make sure its actual cranberry juice that should help a lot.......also maybe next time you should ask your doctor for a pain pill also, the one that makes your urine bright yellow or orangey color it wont help the infection but it will help with the pain.......oh and the best medicine for a bladder infection is Septra........

It'll go away faster if you drink cranberry juice and water together.
