You should order the book called "The Art of Raising a Puppy" by the Monks of New Skete. These monks raise and train German Shepards at their monastery...great information. Another good book is "Caesar's Way" by the dog whisperer. Gives great insight into dog behavior in relation to each other and to humans.

Seek a trainer if this is out of hand.....shepards are guard dog in nature and it may need professional help to curb the butting or control it if needed to defend it's family.....look in the yellow pages for a dog trainer or google it on line!!!! A trianer is helping to control our 18 month old and the results after the first two visits are remarkable!!!!

Go to the Dog whisperer's website he has written a book as well as has a DVD. Go to google web site and type in dog training. Go to your local library. Read up on training shepards like the American Kennel Club's web site and they can lead you on to other web sites. Give her lots of things to chew on (chew toys) like stuffed animals with squeakers in them, or balls(soft) with squeakers. Pig's ears little raw hide chews. Put it in her kennel at night or when you are gone so it doesn't destroy your house. Good luck

GET HELP FROM A PROFESSIONAL. BITING CAN BE VERY SERIOUS IF NOT CORRECTED PROPERLY. DOGS USUALLY
MOUTH HUMANS AS THEIR DOG MOM DID THEM. BITING
NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT ASAP THAT IT'S NOT AN OK BEHAVIOR TO DO. YELL OUCH VERY STERN AND LOUD,
REWARD WITH PRAISE THE INSTANT SHE STOPS THE BITING OR USE A TREAT. BUT SEEK OUT A CLASS TO LEARN THE PROPER WAY TO HANDLE THIS PROBLEM.

well, if its a puppy, then being pure breed doesnt mean anything, but a puppy training book at borders, its better than a website.

I also agree to get help from a professional. If it's puppy and she's biting, an obedience trainer can help. If she's an adult dog, talk to your vet about referring you to an animal behaviorist.

it would be better if you asked someone you know who has a dog and they could teach you what to do. or you could hit it, if it knows whos boss it wont bite you. but dont overdo it orelse it will scare it. just one slap on the head should do it. but you could probibly get better advice of family and friends

And if you have not seen this man in action, watch The Dog Whisperer on Animal Planet on cable TV. He has books out also.
I think you will be as impressed as I was.
