First of all terror is what we call anyone who opposes us!!
The root of "terror" is injustice and double standards in international conflicts!!
60 years of injustice can make some people "angry"!!
I bet right now, if we apply single standards that all Arabs/Muslims will have no problems with the USA. Actually they would even love us for our great movies/songs/products, etc.
So all of those who actually make fun saying that, they actually think that this is some kind of a movie where there is a bad guy and a good guy (USA of course!!)
For the crack wh0re up there: I tell her, you want rape, check out what our own troops are doing to 14 year old in Iraq!!

In the first place terrorism is a tactic used by a small usually civilian based army fighting a larger and more modern state based military. When the United States fought England for our Independence, the US used what we would call "terrorism" type tactics to take on a much stronger force.
Terrorists are not always the bad guys. Some of the terrorism is based on very legitimate reasons that Americans in particular should honor. For example, the United States supports many Middle Eastern dictatorships that they call Kingdoms. These so called Royal Families are no different than what we think of as mafia families.
These Kingship's rule with an iron fist. They do not have their own citizen's welfare in mind. They have survival of the royal family and power in mind. And guess who is the royal families best friend, The United States. Why, because the royal family controls the oil that comes out of the ground of these countries like Saudi Arabia.
How would you stop terrorism, lower the amount of money Americans are shipping to the Middle East. We support the countries that we are fighting against, or for, in the Middle East. We could impact the life of Kingdoms and theocracies, like Israel, by lowering the money we give them.
If we just told the Middle East that America is going to begin lowering the amount of money we are providing to them for goods and services, they would hear that message.
These Countries in the Middle East we are fighting and supporting are very inefficient governments. They can not handle even a small loss of American dollars. Think about it!

I believe this answer is the best I've come up with.
First of all, lets all agree the world as a whole is becoming more technologically advanced.
The world is becoming more populated.
The ability for an individual to cause harm is increasing with technology.
Now, very simple each person knows 100 people, or has some influence with 100 people.
If America continues to make enemies we will not cover the spread. Meaning, If most people like America because of its hope, truth, they would not hesitate to turn someone in if they thought they were up to no good. On the other hand if more and more people hate America because of lies, mistreating, minipulating etc. allot of people that are up to no good will slip through the cracks, because everyone is pissed at USA.
There is no way we are going to make friends by going to war, and supporting war.
By the way this is the real hard fight. War is the easy answer, band aid.

The only way to stop a bully is to beat him up so badly that he surrenders. Terrorists are bullies. They attack people because they can and because they want to hurt others.
The only way to stop them is to hit them back so hard that they think more than twice about causing problems again. That won't eliminate them completely, but it will seriously reduce the scope of organized terrorism.
For a real-life parable, read the story on the link below. It's short, but worth it.

You don't stop terrorism, you have to destroy it.
Terrorism is a deadly disease and it should be thought of and treated as a deadly disease. There is nothing rational about terrorism and once a person becomes a terrorist he can no longer live in a sane society; he has only one route in life, kill anyone and wait to be killed.
What does society do about a deadly disease? We use all our
strengths, our resourses and our knowledge to destroy it before it can overcome all of us.
That is how you stop terrorism.

Well there's a number of things we can do:
1) stop killing Muslims for oil and give them back Iraq.
2)stop killing Muslims for land and give them back Palestine and Lebanon.
3) Stop interfering with their internal affairs, they don't like us and they don't like our way life. Why don't we just back up and let them live their lives the way they want too.
4) lift the economic sanctions on Libya, Iraq, Palestine and Iran. Maybe if these people have food to eat and feed their children and buy them medicine and clothes they won't blow them selves up for $2000.
Yeah i can go on for some time but i think you get the idea

Well, the first step of trying to eliminate state sponsors of terrorism, like Afghanistan and Iraq, is a good and necessary course of action. But, it is only one step.
There must also be a coordinated effort to limit and contain them, to intercept and disrupt their communications, to disrupt and freeze their financial assets and transactions, to intercept their weapons and agents, to undermine their support.
As for the stuff about the CIA - it's best to take any story about them, especially stories from loonies, with a hefty chunk of skepticism.

Fidel? That's The Maximum Leader to you, you punk!
As for terrorists, we should handle 'em just the way we are - hunt 'em down one-by-one and in their hundreds and thousands and kill those we don't arrest.
Don't forget that the "news" only shows you the tip of the iceberg. Under the covers a whole lotta bad guys are getting a chance to discover that they were mislead when it comes to the whole 72 virgins nonsense.

To stop terrorism we must know more about these people, we need to know why they are doing terror, why they are ready do kill and get killed. I don't beleive that someone will kill just for pleasure.
