A lot of answers not just in the religion&spirituality are based on opinions. Time and space don't allow for very lengthy, detailed responses, most of the time they aren't required or expected either. In this particular sub forum I find it amusing that those individuals opposed to religion aren't willing to invest the time to at least read the bible. Everyone can quote bits and pieces out of context but can't really explain the passages. There is a lot (positive) to be said about blind faith. However, understandably so, it doesn't go very far when communicating with a skeptic or non-believer. That is why it is imperative that as Christians we can defend and explain our beliefs, and not in a confrontational or argumentative tone either. There are some excellent internet resources that can help to answer some of your questions with details way better than I could. Actually, I am a young minister, and when I have questions like these I always go to the bible. I do believe in faith, but I don't believe that a loving god would give us questions he couldn't provide the answers to. If you would like, email me, and I will show you how I find faith in God by the bible. Cheshirecat12321@hotmail.com
As for your point about hobbits and pixies, that's all people believe the bible is anymore, but it is truly a book God has given us holding divine prophecies regarding our day. I always trust my bible for the answers before I make statements, and when I do, I try to follow Jesus example and be humble.
Thank you for asking such a good question.

ROFL, when you hold a baby in your arms, thats a miracle? Actually thats just biology. Science has not explained everything but what they have explained people fail to acknowledge. It's incredible to see how many people are still in that ancient superstitous mindset. OH LOOK AT THAT FLASH OF LIGHT IN THE SKY, THAT HAS TO BE A GOD. lol, come on, stop giving the title GOD to everything you don't understand. I will tell you right now, that I have seen no proof that God exists, but on the other hand I haven't really come across conclusive evidence that he doesn't exist; although the idea of following blindly, one of the thousands of different religions is just plain ignorance to me.

You're either gonna get a lot of people quoting bible verses (because they can't seem to grasp that the bible can't be used to prove itself).
Or you're gonna get people saying that the evidence is all around you in nature, even though this in no way proves that their idea of god is the right one. (Plus, evolutionists have their own answer to this point).
Or finally, the ever popular answer, Faith. Though the faith they're talking about is blind faith, which provides no better reason to follow one creed over another. If they say the definition of faith is belief in something without proof, then they're just wrong. I have faith that the sun will rise, that rain will fall, that the tides will ebb and flow... because these things ARE proven, and that kind of stability and predictiblity provides the foundation of real faith

No and I notice that you said "make a statement of fact." Our facts are true. We have personal truths, evidences and experiences that goes over your head. To try to explain it to someone who is dead set on not believing it would be a waste of my time and others who believe and know what is true. We are giving these facts to the ones who are truly searching and want to know the truth and are willing to be open minded and not wanting to debate. You are truly not interested in what believers know so why fool ur self? Why don't you feel the need to provide evidence of God's non-existence? Where's the evidence? Think About It!

i back up what i say with the bible. But unfortunately there are many people who do the same thing I do but they read things out of context, or mix old and new testament teachings and come up with something that suits their own agenda. This type of misrepresentation of the bible is one of the biggest reasons there are so many non believers. Most non believers I have spoke to say they don't believe because of (lets call it a....b....or c). They say a..b...c.. just don't make sense and I say " your right they don't and whoever taught you this didn't know what they were talking about." I would be more than happy to try to explain any questions someone has. Hope this helps

Its all about Faith...and shouldn't the fact that we are all here, living, breathing, and having free will, be enough "evidence"? When you hold a newborn baby in your arms that you have created, and you've felt it grow inside of you for months, you witness what a miracle life is and know that god is behind this.
Furthermore, I think that hobbits and pixies DID once exist, but they asked too many questions and didn't have faith.

its called faith!
The word faith has various uses; its central meaning is similar to "belief", "trust" or "confidence", but unlike these terms, "faith" tends to imply a transpersonal rather than interpersonal relationship – with God or a higher power. The object of faith can be a person (or even an inanimate object or state of affairs) or a proposition (or body of propositions, such as a religious credo). In each case, however, faith is in an aspect of the object and cannot be logically proven or objectively known. Faith can mean believing unconditionally. It can also be defined as accepting as true something that one has been told by someone who is believed to be trustworthy. Faith by its very nature is not based on firm fact. Faith is based on instincts, feelings or often what one expects to be true though not proven.
i Am sure you have some kind of faith.

Simple - because THERE HAIN'T NO EVIDENCE - inspite of what one person above asserts (notice, without evidence!) that faith is all the evidence they need. They are IGNORANT of what constitutes EVIDENCE! Hebrew 11:1 is without evidence even though it might use the word evidence! Just saying this is the evidence does not make it evidence. Calling a pig sweet does not make him sweet, even if you spray him perfume, he's still gonna roll in the mud!

The evidence is in all creation and no man will be without excuse because of it. Deep in the core of every living thing and everything created is evidence that someone more powerful and greater than ourselves was the intelligent creator.
The reason I give an answer is because the Lord said that we should give answer to the truth that lies within us.
And because you demand an answer and evidence. The reason Christians answer is because non-Christians demand that Christians prove it.
