You'll need an airmans medical exam, you'll need a minimum of 20 hours with an instructor, and a minimum of 20 hours solo, pass the flight certification test with the FAA test administrator, and the total cost can range, depending upon what the plane rental and instructor costs are. I imagine they are around $55 and hour for a Cessna 152 including the instructors time? It cost me a total of somewhere in the negihborhood of $3000 to earn my license, and I was right around 50 hours if I remember correctly? Just because you meet the minimum 20 hours + 20 hours does NOT mean the instructor will pass you to the FAA test administrator though... They can hold you back until they are satisfied with your performance. All this info SHOULD be true, unless regulations have changed, though I'm doubtful they have? In order to maintain currency of your license you'll need to get a yearly airmans medical exam and also 3 take-offs and landings. Good luck and have fun with it!

The minimum age requirement if I recall correctly is 16.

To be honest, the requirements for getting your pilot's license are the same in all the United States, governed by the FAA.

In order to get your pilot's license, you must be 17 years of age with a minimum of 60 hours... I think (have to check on that one).

At 16 you can go for your student pilot's license, but only at your flight instructor's discretion. Also, as a student pilot you cannot fly with anyone who does not hold a valid pilot's license, but you can fly solo - again, with flight instructor's write-off.

As for the cost, well... that varies from flight school to flight school (or instructor to instructor). The average cost is around $4,000 (again, my experience).

If you would like more information, check out my flight instructor's website - http://www.dsflight.com/

All the best and if you have any other questions, let me know...

You can find requirements here. Good Luck.. Expect to spend about 6 thousand dollars. It varies... but that's a ballpark figure.

They're the same nationwide. The states do not regulate pilot licensing, the FAA does.

About your age... People at my local airport told me that you can start training at any age eg.12, but you will only be able to go solo and be issued your licence when you are 17!
