i am the owner of 2 dogs....i do not walk either one of them....they get their exercise from play....as for the pooper scooping, it all depends on where you live and how much land the dogs have.....if you live in a city setting then yes you will have to clean it up or live with a dirty yard....if you live in a rural setting then let them go....i live on 2 1/2 acres and i dont pooper scoop....i figure where they go i dont...and it all breaks down in the weather. You take on what ever animal that you think you can handle.....if you think you can handle a dog then go for it.....thats your choice and i am sure you didnt need all the smart a** comments that some of these people gave you...

If you really want a dog then listen to this. Dogs love walks. Train your dog to walk at your heal and you will love taking him out on walks. I have a pit and since he is a big dog with tons of energy I walk him 2 times a day for about an hour (before he eats). It is good to walk your dog. It's a bond he shares with you. When I walk my dog my mind is free. I relax.It's good for you too. You get a work out. Once you get in the routine you'll have so much fun. People come up to you an tell you your dog is so cute, it help's your dog socialize.It will also make your dog calm. Another fun thing you can do is go rollerblading/skating after you master the heal. Dog's love to run. The walk is very important it will make your dog live his/her life to the fullest. As far as the poop it's only 2 times a day. (you were a baby once and someone took care of that for you).
If I have not changed your mind, than maybe you could get a ferret they are fun pet's.
If you did change your mind, I hope you get a dog that does not get to big maybe 25-35 pounds. I am sure that there is a puppy somewhere that want's a leader to take him out for walk's and play with him and give him/her a good life.
Peace=)

Pet ownership is a responsibility, and yes that means that sometimes you have to handle the natural functions of your pet, be it a dog, a cat, hamster or goldfish -- they all poop, and you've got to clean it up at some point (even if you have an outdoor cat who does his business in the neighbor's petunias -- occasionally, there will be "accidents" in the house). You've also got to keep your pet mentally stimulated, or they'll either become unsociable or actually become unhealthy (depends on the pet, of course -- entertaining a fish isn't quite as necessary above giving them stuff to swim through and around) If you don't want to take the responsibility for caring for all your pets needs, you should probably not own a pet.

don't get a dog, or any animal for that matter, if you are not willing to take on all of the responsibilites.
Imagine it is you who will step in the poop each time. There are far worse things than picking up dog poop when it comes to owning a dog.

i belive if you dont want to clean up after a dog or walk him,it would be best to not have one ,you would not bond with it and animals do need to bond to show ownership ,you would be the alpha of the bunch ,i recommend that you get a bird or other animal that you can leave n a cage ,cause you and it wont be happy ,and leave the lovin to someone that wants the ownership, to have maybe that pet ,a bored dog is a unhappy dog ,just like a person it need lovin ,respect and it will be your friend for life ,not saying your not but thats what is needed for a healthly pet , i have two red dobermans pinscher and they eat after me ,but know when its their time i will be there to take care of them ,good luck hope you find some love n your heart ,cause they will be there to give it to you if you give it to them

Well, you wouldn't like it if you couldn't poop. Of course you'll have to walk it and pick up the mess. If you don't want a cat, get a rabbit or something. But don't mistreat a dog. They like doing their business out in the open.

Any pet you get, you are going to have to clean up after. If you don't want the mess, don't get a pet!
Even with fish, you have to clean their tank which can be kind of gross. Hamsters make a mess in their cage as do mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, etc. A bird is one of the messiest animals to own.

If you don't want the responsibilities of having a dog, then you shouldn't get a dog. Don't forget that if you are a responsible owner of *any* pet, they will poop and you will have to clean it up.

Walking is not the only form of exercies for a dog. You can throw it tennis balls or other toys in your yard or house. There are tons of other methods for exercising dogs. So I say go ahead and get a dog.
