I'm getting married in September. And the BEST way to get freebies and have fun is to go to BRIDAL SHOWS! You should check your area for upcoming bridal shows. They normally happen twice a year. January and September time frame. Normally, every booth will have a contest. And at the end of the show, they will select winners. At the last show, I won $500 off a dress, free bridal hair, $200 off tuxes, $400 off a DJ and a pressure cooker from Macy's. I didn't win the free honeymoon or get a full set of china... They also give out free bridal dresses and free tuxes. The games are great and there is plenty of cake tasting!!!
I would also recommend to look into DIY projects with the invitations, programs, menu cards, favors and etc. Start early!
You can also ask for sponsors. This is a pretty new idea that some couples have used. For example, ask the florist to be a sponsor for your wedding. And then put an advertisement for them in your invite and program... It may sound tacky, but I have heard it can save couples tens of thousands by having sponsors for tuxes, flowers, cake, etc. You just need to make sure if you go this route that you have planned a way to do the advertising for them.
Good luck!

It depends on what you consider a nice wedding? Is this going to be a union or a one day Holywood production? I know zilch about the "freebees" but my advice is keep it simple, very simple, a small ceremony, dinner in a nice place with the immediate family (or whatever), a long week end honeymoon then both get back to your jobs. Don't go into debt for this or anything else in your life. If you love and care for each other that is all that counts. A "grand show" is not necessary...brides get programmed early on this subject and only think it is. It's for the rich and most of us aren't. Weddings today are a grand production, an industry and not a union of two people. Better to be true and start off married life on the right foot....Best Wishes....!

Wedding freebies are nice. They really are.
However, don't count on them to save your wedding. Bridal Shows are great, but there are also major scams there. "FREE HONEYMOON! All you have to do is come and see us."
I am getting calls everywhere from people saying, "Hi, my name is Dave and we met at the Bridal Show? Well, you've won!"
Hmm. I've never BEEN to a bridal show. Oops.
Shop discount, shop off season, and shop early.
You can have a beautiful wedding on a small budget; you just have to pick what is most important to you and learn the skill of negotiation.
Best advice? Small number of guests, do it on a weekday, and do during an off month.

I don't know of many freebees, but a lot of places will give you lower rates in exchange for you letting them advertise at your wedding. Some people don't like doing this because they think the signs and ads all over are cheap and tacky. But it's up to you.
If you're saavy, there are lots of ways to cut costs for a wedding. Make things yourself, focus your energies on the few very important things and splurge on those while tightening your purse strings with things that don't matter as much, and cut your guest list.
