I always say that if I did, I would keep it a secret for about a week. Just give myself time to absorb it & savour the thrill quietly before being bombarded by the media & everyone else. How would you handle it?

This could be kept quiet if I don't cash in my winnings right away. Remember I have 1 yr. to claim this.

well, my mortgage company would know immediately. so would bank of america :)

but i think it would be wonderful to just wait until like, maybe christmas? and just have a huge party, make the announcement and give everyone fantastically silly lovely gifts, along with a huge check to habitat for humanity.

*sigh*

i can dream.

A week?! I'd probably want to go much longer than that. And I would start by hiring an attorney to claim the winnings on my behalf (so they can't photograph me and plaster the picture in all the newspapers).

Since the first few things I would do with the money is settle debts for myself and others, I could actually keep up the charade for a while, depending on how successful I was in snooping through those other peoples' mail.

I think the most dangerous possible compromise to my anonymity is the fact that whichever store sells the winning ticket also gets a payoff *and* a big ol' banner to hang up saying "We sold the winning ticket!", and I just can't justify going very far out of my way to buy my plays.

I think I would do more or less the same but not for a week just until I get my whole money in my hand. Once everything is settled, then I would rent a black Limousine with a driver for myself and good friends for Las Vegas for sure. Then the second week, book an Air Canada flight for my wedding ceremony in the air. After marriage, I would work out for the charity and donations.

I definitely could keep it quiet, I have 6 siblings that would quit their jobs and be sitting on my doorstep before I even got a chance to let it soak in. :-) I would have an attorney claim mine and remain ANONYMOUS!! I would want NO media attention. Leave me alone to shop through my catalogs and revamp my house!!

Yeah, I could & would keep quiet about winning because by
then I'd be broke. Then I could tell what all I bought with my
winnings.

Well, everyone would know because the media gets involved. I would probably go somewhere where there is no tv, radio, newspapers for a while. Let it blow over.

no that would never work because the public will know the name of the winner and the winner has to pay taxes on the winning amount of money.
