Well.. how much older does not seem to matter these days.. but you should definitely make sure its not going to be wierd during your classes /with other profs and your friends..
If you think he may like you too thats different.. but if you're just attracted to him and he may be aghast at this.. then keep your crush to yourself..
You should get to know more about your prof to see if he may reciprocate and then think about carrying it on than jump in and regret it later..

I detect danger here...But you didn't really say whether he is married, single, or divorced. Then again, in college you are both two consenting adults so it is really up to you what you want to do with your life. Age shouldn't be an issue.

Its really not okay for you two to date or hook up so long as he's your professor. Once he's not, if you are both interested, why not.

I think I remember hearing somewhere that some schools prohibit that.
