I want to copy some chapters from different commercially available concert DVDs and put them on my laptop hard drive for portable viewing. No software is available in the US to do this. I've been told be US manufacturers that their sortware exists overseas and will do what I need, but they can't legally sell it to me. Can someone please provide me a distributor name that carries DVD ripping and editing software in order to do what I'm looking for as well as even creating compilation DVDs of my own with the ability to create on screen menus. If we are legally able to do it with CDs, why not DVDs? HELP, HELP, HELP!!!

Not to worry,

You can find a full DVD Burning Guide at the link below:
http://computer-tricks.blogspot.com/2006/07/burning-new-dvds.html

It includes screenshots, and links to download the 3 programs
you will need to burn DVD movies.

3 Programs used in the guide (download links are included):
DVDFab decrypter
DVD Shrink
Nero

If you only need to copy the DVD to save it onto your laptop, see this guide:

Nero 7 or nero 6 gold edition could do the job for you.

In case you want conversion along with menus you will have to go in for a software like super dvd creator. Its real good.

Note that in the US, it is not only illegal to sell or use such software, but current law even makes it illegal to OWN such software. It is available is you want it. But just wanted to be sure you knew the law.
