I am pretty sure you are right snickers, it can be due to the fact that the good friend does not want to offend anyone.
Sometimes they have friends who are much too good for them.
I hope they stop and think about that.

That is very true grumpydaysleeper, but you also get clean people who are nasty because of the way they act towards others
I would make allowances for people who arent clean (i agree though it isnt nice) if they were kind.

sexy_love, sometimes you find yourself caught up in that situation and you dont want to offend the friend. Then you find the more tolerant you become the nastier your friend can act.

Thank you bailey_bun, at least you only have to put up with her at work. You can look forward to time after work and weekends not seeing her.

No, I don’t think so..who would wanna be friends or be in a company of such degrading people??? Probably equally degrading people who are in the same level and nature as they are..they uphold each other…these are egotistical people who acts and thinks domineeringly that they are greater than everybody or anybody else....they can turn you into a puppet..who wants and can stand an attitude like that?? Unless you’re a saint..

I've found that some nasty types actually find very kind, patient, good-hearted friends who put up with an awful lot from these people. After much thought on the subject, I can only conclude that this odd phenomenon results mainly from the nice person's overwhelming desire to maintain good relationships with everyone -- notwithstanding the fact that some people don't deserve to be treated so well. I'm not sure this would pass as "true" friendship, but the ultimate outcome (i.e. a nasty person having a really good friend) is the same.

Interesting, because I was having a similar conversation today with a friend regarding our co-worker. She is so miserable and unpleasant at work, and sometimes goes out of her way to be mean. I can't imagine getting up for work everyday and being like that-and how fun is it for her to come to work and be hated by everyone?
She says she has friends, and I wonder about them. How can someone so bitchy and mean actually acquire friends? How can someone lead such a double life? Most of us are the same person at work and in our personal lives. She is certainly an enigma. I just wish she'd go be an enigma somewhere else!
I guess it's that saying of "there's someone for everyone" which normally we attribute to finding a soul mate, but it must apply to finding friends, too. Even the nastiest ***** can have friends.

No, not true, but they will make friends with equally nasty people. They will just go on to talk about each other behind their backs. So true friendship? Probably not, maybe with a sibling or spouse, but only because they understand their situation.

Not as long as they choose to be nasty. They might find other nasty people to hang out with... they sort of deserve each other.
