what is the difference between Microsoft Office Excel .xlr and .xls. I need Microsoft Office Excel xls program

My wife is trying to upload a bulk listing to her new web store but I need Microsoft Office Excel to upload these items but I am confused. It is an xls file. Any help PLEASE> Thanx

.xlr file extensions are those of Microsoft Works spreadsheet, a commonly found program preinstalled with Windows, but rarely used. .xls file extensions are those of Microsoft Excel, the program you need. Microsoft Excel is usually purchased separately or with a Microsoft Office package (do not confuse with MS Works, not as much functionality). Hope this helps.
