No you are not considered fat. Depending on your build, to some cultures you are considered voluptuous. The American culture/society is stuck on the images we see, plastered and posted in the magazines on television and in the videos. While those women are supposed to be beautiul and representative of all women, how many women do you actually know that fit the criteria? Since when did we become a society full of super models or video vixens? It doesn't matter what size you are or how you look, you have to consider and feel like you're the most beautiful woman in the world. I am a female who just happens to be 5'11"; I weigh 180 pounds. For a very long period in my life, I carried this negative image of myself because not only was I tall, I was also considered overweight. It wasn't until I matured that I realized how sexy and glamorous I was (okay, so I heard it repeatedly). Change the way you look at things, the things you look at change! Once you evaluate how you dress, represent and carry yourself, that's how society will view you. Look within yourself. You're not fat and you're beautiful!

Okay , here is my totally unscientific reply. I myself go by pants size, since I generally gain weight below the waist when I gain it. As long as I am wearing a size 10 pants I consider that to be good. Anything less than a 10 is very thin for me. If I get to a 12 I feel I need to lose weight. When I get to a 14 I feel I am fat. Since plus sizes generally start at 14 I guess that is pretty much how other people feel, too. Hope this helps.

Your BMI is 26. 19 to 24 is normal. Above-- overweight. 30-- obese. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Well the two measurements together without seeing your body might be considered over weight for your height. To tell for sure we would have to measure a number of ratios. Your neck and arms in inches compared to your waist. Your chest and thighs compared to your waist. And 5'5" and 157 isn't anywhere close to the obese range for you so you should be ok. Send a picture I will let you know my personal opinion. the_jumpman5@yahoo.com

Fat? Nah, chunky or pudgy? Probably. The main reason you may want to watch your weight however is that as you get older, the more stress you put on your frame and arteries. The first thing to go will be your ankles followed by your knees then hips. Stay in shape, watch your personal intake, and don't use food to fix your depression. Use excercise and BAM! you look better and feel better and ones self-esteem will improve.

No, absolutely not... I am a 5'4" female, and I am weighing WAY much more... with 157 lbs I would consider myself skinny (not in a negative way)

Weight verses height is not the true calculation to see if one is overweight.. Body structure also must be calculated. Are you big boned small boned, etc.

Remember also, muscle weighs more than fat...

You should look more at how you are proportioned.

Does your body look fit, are you tone, do you have excess fat in certain areas. This is what you should really be looking at more than what your body weighs.

No, not fat. If you feel fat, though, go ahead and drop 10-20 pounds. If you think you're fine though, embrace your curves.

Why? I used to be a 140 pound 5'5" female, but I got mono and lost 20 pounds. After my recovery, I looked at myself and thought, wow, I look better this way, and I feel better about myself.
