C.B. will squat in the yard for minutes at a time without any result. She will move from one spot in the yard to the other, hoping this will help her situation. Have any of you experienced this with your cat. Is this a sign of constipation or is she having problems urinating? How have you handled this?

yes, it sounds like she is blocked, although not common for females. She is "straining" to urniate or deficate. Look to see how much, if any, urine is coming out. I suggest you put her in the house with a litter box so you can better assess the situation. Constipation is not as serious as not urinating. A blocked cat, who can't urinate, is in serious trouble. The problem is fatal due to backup of bacteria. First, find out if she can't urinate or deficate. Watch for urinary dribble. If she is dribbling urine from spot to spot, she needs to be seen by a Vet ASAP. I'm a vet tech, so I know.

This works for hairballs but I assume it should work for constipation as well, regardless, it won' t hurt the cat. Put some petroleum jelly on his paws and his check area. He will lick it off to clean it and ingest the jelly, (use the regular clear, white kind). The jelly should act as a lubricant in his system to help pass things through. Not sure about constipation but works great on hairballs.

My cat had the same problem for years. He would be very sore on his rear if you picked him up, and he would be very uncomfertable. Go to the vet right away to get your cat cleaned out and maybe start putting medicine into his food. If you don't take care of this is could be a major problem. If this becomes a normal thing there is a surgery. My cat was to old and we had to end up putting him to sleep because of it, so take care of this problem ASAP

My guess would be just to change it's diet. Give it a different kind of food and the constipation will stop. If that doesn't work go to your local vet.

constipation, give the cat a little milk. It makes mine have diarhea if they are fine, so it should make your regular. ( kinda like an old person taking fiber)
