I think they are great dogs. i have had many and they have all been better than goldens and labs and all of those "family" type dogs. What do you think? I think Hate the Deed, not the breed!!!!

They are kissy-face lap dogs and do make great family pets! They have a bad reputation due to the fighting, but if the pit bull is raised properly and allowed to be the sweet disposition they truly are, they will make a great pet. I volunteered at my local shelter as a dog walker and I loved walking the pit bulls! They're soooo sweet!

I think they are fine dogs with the right owners. Like all breeds, pitbulls have certain personality quirks, traits, and tendencies. They need owners who will nurish the good traits and diminish the bad. Never treat a dog bred for violence with violence, or those tendencies will come out.
However, this breed does tend to snap (like go crazy, not just bite) a bit more than other breeds. It is probably because of how and why the dog was bred; these are inherent instincts that you can't always nurture out. I would be hesitant to have a pit bull as a family dog, especially with small children.

I just wouldn't get one, because I don't like the risk. You have to understand, the breed was made for fighting. I think you can train a pitbull to be docile, with a professional trainer. If you can't get a professional trainer to help you, why take the chance with those lock jaws. There's a lot of cool dogs that are way frienlier, boxers, bull dogs, you know what I mean?

Pitbulls are great,they have a bad reputation tho.However,ANY dog of any breed will turn on you if teased or taunted.It is all in how your raise a pet.If you teach the dog to be mean or you tease it it is going to have a bad side to it.If it is well kept and well fed there wont be a problem.Pitbulls have a great personality.They are great dogs and friendly dogs when treated properly.Any dog of any breed can turn on you,not just pitbulls.I think that they are wonderful dogs.

When raised properly in a healthy environment pitbulls can be wonderful pets. Unfortunately their are people in the world with a few less brain cells that the pitbull that raise them to fight and be mean thus giving them a bad reputation.

I think they are cute and if you raise them the right way, a very good pet.
Most people think they are mean animals.
But it's not the breed, it's the people that raise they're dog to be mean, which I think should be illegal.
I definatly agree with you they are wonderful dogs.

Pitbulls can be really very gentle, it all depends on how they were raised. Any dog can be a "family dog", just make sure you get the right one.

I like them, but it's definitely not my most favorite type of breed. I think that they are a great companion and can be a good dog, well if only you really train them or else they may fight.

Pit bulls are the best! I personally think they're adorable, and its the people that raise the dogs that make them violent, not just the breed itself.

i've never had a pitbull, but i don't think that they are bad dogs. there are mean ones, but you can find mean dogs of any breeds. it has to do with how the dogs are trained.
