I was told by the pediatrician and the dentist that I should start bringing my son at three years old unless there is a problem. Until then, your pediatrician will see if there is anything wrong and tell you to see one.
Start good oral hygeine early - rub the gums before any teeth come in to keep them clean. This also works as a nice massage for those sore and itchy teething months. Then when the teeth come in, brush them.
You also do not want the baby to fall asleep with a bottle of formula or milk. A full mouth of milk will damage the teeth.
When it comes time to choose a dentist, choose carefully. Some pediatric dentists do not allow the parents to stay with their child and will use a restraint. Before scheduling an appointment, ask about their policies.

Depends on what you read. Some books suggest that you take your child in for their first visit around 6 months, just as their first teeth are coming in.

I didn't take my son to the dentist until after he was 3 because I knew there was no way he would sit in the chair, let alone let the dentist do anything to him. My daughter I took while she was still 2 and she loved the whole process.

Go with what you think is best for your child, but I would recommend by age 4 or 5 at the very latest. You can also take your child with you to your appointment so they can see exactly what goes on at the dentist and won't be as apprehensive.

not until about 5, there is no need if it brushes, to go before that. unless there are hereditary dental problems. 1 and 2 are way to young. my daughter had 2 baby teeth left when she turned 18, she's now 22 and still has 1 baby tooth left. NO CANDY OR SODA in the houshold.

At age one. You should brush their teeth for them as soon as that first tooth comes in. I let my daughter brush her own teeth because she wanted to do it by herself like a big girl. When she was 3 years old she had 3 cavities. Had I brushed them for her her teeth would have been better. And yes, I limit the sweets and juices.

You should start brushing their gums with a babt toothbrush when the first tooth appears. Then should go to the dentist around their second birthday.
