Absolutely not! Being a police officer he should be very aware of the law and the possibility of a child dying in a hot car. He's probably had cases like that before so, no excuse. If anything he should have been more aware of the possibilities, in his line of work. It is his job to be an authority figure, to be responsible and to protect and serve and he didn't even protect his own child. I think it's an outrage. I feel sorry for him but not as much as I feel for the mom and for the poor deceased baby.

he should be treated the same. it amazes me that parents "forget" about their babies.
The child died the same as any other child would have. I'd like to know more about this if you can send me a link.
A couple of years afo here in austin there was a lady who was the head of a daycare and forgot to take her baby off the car while she went into the daycare. She said she was trying to be brief but got caught up in something and forgot the baby was in the car. She wasn't charged, I don;t think but was fired because it happened on daycare grounds.

That's a very sad thing. I know that no responsible and caring parent would like that to happen to his own child.
If such a thing did happen, the father should be held responsible for his child's death irregardless of his postion whether he is a police or just a mere bum. I know that somehow, his defense lawyer would take any circumstances into consideration, especially his credibility as a police officer in order to reduce his sentence.
Well, I do hope that justice will prevail. Whatever the turnaround of the verdict will be, I do hope that the father would admit his responsibility towards that uneventful happening. The life of his child can never be brought back- and it's only by God's grace will he be forgiven for what had happened.

It doesn't matter if it is a cop or the city mayor or heck even the queen herself! 'nobody' has any excuse to ever leave a child in the car .. and there's no such thing as an excuse either..
It's amazing that a person who represents authority and safety would place a child in such a dangerous situation .. specially when a child 'depends' on the parent to keep them safe from harm.. moreover the child 200% trusts and depends on us to help them feel safe and provide that security in their lives .. just what kind of a person is this cop anyways? and how does this person become a cop when he/she can't even care for his/her own child?
I'm sure this person will be tormented for the rest of his/her life and i pray that this person will have learned his/her lesson for destroying such a precious soul which god has blessed him/her with ..

He should be treated the same as any other person who left their child in a hot car. Just because he is a police officer does'nt give him the right to get away with neglecting a child.

There was a woman a few years ago who did this. She dropped off her toddler at his daycare and then forgot to drop the infant off at daycare before she went to work. Apparently, she lived in the midwest and had a very successful job running a Hospital. She was acquitted. http://www.dmregister.com/news/stories/c4788993/16727101.html

Why should the person's occupation have anything to do with the results? Of course they shouldn't be treated differently. In fact, they should know even better than most, so maybe the punishment should be harsher.

No way, they should get in as much trouble as anyone else. He actually forgot the baby was in the car? I just don't see how anyone could do that.
