Your instructor (he doesn't sound like any "master" to me) is a hypocrite. And I would be wary of any school where a student's concussion is considered too trivial to warrant serious concern.
Martial arts instructors are not obligated to love their students as if they were their own children. But those who say they do should walk the walk. And no matter what, a professional instructor should always be following up on a student who was in need of medical care.
Walk away.

I'm a bit surprised at some of these answers. Did you do the right thing by quitting? It depends. If you enjoy martial arts, I think you should not quit training. If anything, find a better school with a good instructor who has the student's safety at the top of his priority list. But don't quit training. I definitely don't think you should go back to that school if you feel uncomfortable there. I mean, dude, you're probably paying an arm and a leg (no pun intended) for that guy to teach you, not give you concussions. Don't quit, just find another school. Good luck!

If I read between the lines I am going to say you were playing around with Karate am I right. Because you used the word Master.
You got up and said you were okay after the flip, right.
Your master was not aware of your injury unless you had told him that you were injured.
If all of this being the case your master had he known you were hurt would have never let you out of his sight. He would have gotten you medical help right then and there.

if you love martial arts then you did the wrong thing for sure.
you shouldn't have quit just for that reason, just because he didn't call doesn't mean that he doesn't care maybe he was just to embarrassed, accidents happen just forgive him and go back.
I would have called you if I was your master but not all are the same and if I were you I would have been sad but I would of never even think about quiting.
I'm not trying to be rude but you acted as if you and your master were boyfriend and girlfriend and then you dumped him cause he didn't call you. (just a little immature) :))
just go back and start all over again I really doubt he hurt you on purpose.
good luck

Did you quit because you are worried your teacher will hurt you again? If he is reckless with your health and safety, yeah, get out of there.
But if you are just leaving because you're feelings are hurt, that seems a little childish. There could be a dozen reasons he didn't call to check on you. Go back in and talk to him about it. We all make mistakes and masters need to learn sometimes, too.

it's a pretty raw deal that your head master never called to check up on you...maybe he's embarrassed about causing you harm. since you were both involved, i don't think causing a stink about it is a good idea. it's a shame he can't bring himself to show the compassion a person in his position should. i think you should just chalk it up to a lesson learned about that particular head master. a cuncussion can be serious if undiagnosed and not tended to. it sounds to me like you are doing fine. in your defense, i don't see how you did anything wrong.

Um, I might've quit too. But I'd talk to him about it if I were you. Maybe he didn't know you were concussed. People get hurt all the time in karate, maybe he thought it was just another minor injury.
But sorry it happened anyway.

You didn't do anything. He should have called to at least check on you (especially if he knew you had a concussion).

you should confront your master and find out why he never call to check on you.
